Rodney Sanders Has Up-and-Down Labor Day Weekend

Happy, Texas (09/09/15) – Rodney Sanders experienced a roller coaster of emotions in his Swan Energy #20 MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified over the holiday weekend in United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) competition.

On Wednesday night Rodney Sanders started the five-night stand in the Hunt for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental by traveling to Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa). In a field of twenty-two Modifieds, Sanders transferred into the feature with a runner-up finish to Stormy Scott in his heat. With $3,000 on the line, Rodney registered a 6th place outing in the 30-lapper.

The following night brought Sanders to Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota) to a field of 30 Open Wheel Modifieds. Edging his way into the feature with a 4th place finish in his heat, Rodney notched the 15th place starting spot. Earning the hard charger award, Rodney Sanders improved ten spots in the 30-lap affair scoring a 5th place finish behind Jason Krohn, Jason Hughes, Jason Cummings, and Jesse Sobbing.

Friday night brought the USMTS followers to Chateau Raceway (Lansing, Minnesota) for the eleventh night of action in The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Improving four spots in his heat, Rodney transferred into the feature with a 4th place finish. After starting in 10th, Sanders received contact from another car, which sent him flipping upside down on lap 17. Coming out uninjured, Rodney logged only his second DNF of the 2015 campaign.

The twelfth night of action in the Hunt of the Casey’s Cup brought Sanders to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) on Saturday evening. With forty-four Open Wheel Modifies signed in on Saturday night, Rodney recorded a 6th place outing in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Transferring into the feature with a 3rd place finish in his B-Main, Sanders earned the 17th start position for the 40-lapper, A-Main. Battling for a $3,000 payday, Rodney charged through the field advancing eleven spots scoring a 6th place finish.

Wrapping up the busy weekend, Rodney headed to Cresco Speedway (Cresco, Iowa) on Sunday night for the $3,000 to win Casey’s General Stores A-Main. Finishing 2nd in his heat to Casey Arneson, Sanders earned the 6th place starting spot for the feature. Working to regain the points lead in The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup, Rodney Sanders rebounded from his bad luck to capture his 23rd win of the season with Jason Hughes, Casey Arneson, Jesse Sobbing, and Ryan Gustin completing the top five.
“This five-day stretch proved to be quite the experience,” commented Sanders. “The whole situation at Chateau was very disappointing from multiple angles. However, our team kept digging and didn’t give up, so I have to thank them for getting me back on track. We’ll now head to the Fall Jamboree in a couple of weeks to try and claim this third title.”

Rodney is in second in the latest USMTS Hunt of the Casey's Cup Standings, just two points removed from the top spot, which is held by Jason Hughes. For more results from these events, please visit www.USMTS.com .

The team will not race anywhere this weekend. The next scheduled race for Rodney is September 17th-19th with the 9th Annual IMCA World Nationals at Marshalltown Speedway (Marshalltown, Iowa). For more information on the $10,000-to-win event, please visit www.MarshalltownSpeedway.com .

13-Year-Old, Tyler Clem on the Rise; Ready for Florida Doubleheader

St. Petersburg, Florida (09/09/15) – 13-year-old, Tyler Clem from St. Petersburg, Florida is the latest addition to the MSR Mafia Team of drivers.

The racing prodigy is currently in his 9th year of racing and despite his young age has already logged countless hours of seat time in various divisions including Super Late Model, Limited Late Model, 410 c.i. Winged Sprint Cars, 360 c.i. Winged Sprint Cars, Midget Sprint Cars, and more.

To date Clem has already amassed fourteen championships, including three national titles. Other notable accomplishments include becoming the youngest driver to ever qualify for the NeSmith World Championship event, where he finished 6th in the final rundown. At just 12-years-old, Tyler became the youngest driver to ever receive clearance from the World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoOLMS) to compete at any track, where the high-profile series sanctions events. In addition in early 2015, at the age of just 12-years-old he became the youngest driver to ever qualify for an All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) Sprint Car feature and a WoOLMS feature.

Tyler was in action this past weekend at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) in the rain-delayed, 2nd Annual Georgia Showdown. On Saturday evening Tyler started on the tail of the $10,000-to-win finale in his Vahlco Wheels #14 Rocket Late Model due to not being present for preliminary action for the event earlier this year. Despite starting deep in the field against a field of racing veterans, Tyler was passing for the 6th position late in the event, when he was spun by another driver, ending his strong run.

On Sunday night Tyler was fastest in hot laps in the $3,000-to-win program with the National Late Model Series (NLMS) and had high hopes for the evening before mechanical woes sidelined him early in the finale.

Full results from the events are available at www.CochranSpeedway.com .

The upcoming weekend will take Tyler into battle in a pair of events in his home state. On Friday evening he will enter a Weekly Racing Series Event at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida), while Saturday night will take the 13-year-old to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) for a $3,000-to-win affair with the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series (UDLMCS).
