NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 26 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 26 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season only showed two races on the schedule, but they were big for two drivers.  Kevin Sitton of Baytown, TX used his last week to earn full points a successful one, as he drove the Mirage Construction Special to his ninth win of the season on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX.

The 50-point win vaulted Sitton from the 14th spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings to seventh with 677 points and a point fund paying spot.  With one week left in the season, Sitton can now make his plans to attend the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA.

The “come from out of nowhere” driver this season may be Adam Cummings of Odenville, AL.  A second-place finish by Cummings on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL brought him from outside the Top 20 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings, and up into the 17th spot with 618 points and one more week to earn full points.  Cummings is just 39 points outside the Top 10.

If Cummings can start a main event in the 27th and final week of the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season this coming weekend, he would earn a minimum of 41 points that would bring his total to 659 points and a chance to earn a trip to Dawsonville, GA to collect a point fund check.

The top two drivers in the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, National Champion Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS and the National Championship Runner-Up Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS did not compete in Week 26 action.  Drivers behind Palasini in the standings did earn enough points to challenge him for the second-spot in the standings in the 27th and final week of the season.

Palasini has now clinched the 2015 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship Runner-Up spot for the third straight season.  After competing in 21 races over 26 weeks, Palasini has a best 14 week total of 694 points after eight wins and 17 top five finishes driving the MP Trucking Special.

Arnold took the $10,000 title with a perfect 14 week total of 700 points after a NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series single-season record of 19 wins, 24 top five finishes and 27 top ten finishes in 32 races driving The Strength Center Special.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL finished 15th on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Skinner’s Body Shop Special, and did not net any points.  Skinner is now tied with Robbie Starnes of Livingston, TX for the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 689 points apiece.

Skinner has seven wins, six of which are 50-point victories, 16 top five finishes, and 20 top ten finishes in 24 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races.  Starnes has six wins, four of which are 50-point wins, 21 top five finishes and 23 top ten finishes in 23 races.  Skinner holds the tie-breaker advantage going into the 27th and final week of the season with more 50-point wins.

Starnes drove the Lonestar Hydro Maintenance Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Battleground Race Park to net one point and move into a tie with Skinner for the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.  The 14-year-old Skinner also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for NeSmith Late Model drivers under the age of 18.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 685 points after seven wins, 14 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 24 races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.  Daspit did not compete in Week 26 action.

Greg Fore of Greenville, MS traveled down to Battleground Race Park on Saturday night and drove the Washington Body Shop Rocket to a fifth-place finish.  That was not good enough to net Fore any points, but he remains sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 684 points after five wins, 15 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 22 races.

Behind Sitton in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings in the eighth spot is Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS, who has a best 14 week total of 675 points after one win, 19 top five finishes and 21 top ten finishes in 23 races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.  Lee did not compete in Week 26 action.

The NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point leader Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points after two wins, 17 top five finishes, and 20 top ten finishes in 21 races driving the Three Trade Consultants Special.  Joiner did not compete in Week 26 action.

Cole Daffron of Pell City, AL rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 657 points after 13 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 18 races driving the TSR Race Cars Warrior.  The 17-year-old driver, who is second in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series points, finished fifth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and was able to net one point.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 26 action, Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL drove the CRM Motors GRT to his fourth win of the season in his last six races on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

The win by Adkins also moved four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR into a tie for the point lead with Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV with 14 wins a apiece.  Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL is third with 13 wins.

CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge with seven wins and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.

NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION WEEK 26 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Six of the Top 10 drivers in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings saw action in Week 26 competition and made the most of it with wins or good finishes to help their respective causes at nailing down a points fund-paying position in the standings going into the last week of the 27-week 2015 season this coming weekend.

Steve Pate of Heflin, AL clinched the fourth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings with his third win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Pate Racing Chevrolet.  Pate was able to net nine points and bring his best 14 week total to 778 points after three wins and 19 top five finishes in 20 races.

Richie Stephens of Salem, AL and Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS have clinched the top two spots respectively in the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings.  Both Stephens and Strength did not compete in Week 26 action.

Stephens has a perfect best 14 week total of 700 points after a NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division single-season record of 20 wins, 27 top five finishes, and 29 top ten finishes in 33 races driving the Rocketman Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

After 26 of 27 weeks of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season, Strength has a best 14 week total of 698 points after 12 wins and 21 top five finishes in 22 races driving the Sauls Farm Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL celebrated clinching the third spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings by driving the Coastal Engine and Machine Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.  Harris was able to net two points and bring his best 14 week total to 691 points after seven wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 25 races.

Bo Bailey of Milton, FL moved up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings after finishing third on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the L&L Construction Services Chevrolet to net three points.  Bailey now has a best 14 week total of 670 points after two wins, 19 top five finishes, and 24 top ten finishes in 25 races.

Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL drove the Faulk Motorsports Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a 40-point win on Saturday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL.  Due to the car count less than eight, Faulk only received 40 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division points, not enough for him to net any points.

With Pate and Bailey netting points in Week 26 action, Faulk fell to sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points after four wins, 17 top five finishes, and 24 top ten finishes in 25 races.

Calvin Cook of Pace, FL is seventh in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 663 points after four wins, 11 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 races driving the AP Welding Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.  Cook did not compete in Week 26 action.

Brandon Kilpatrick of Jay, FL moved up to the eighth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings after a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the Kilpatrick Racing Chevrolet.  Kilpatrick was able to nest four points and bring his best 14 week total to 655 points after three wins, 11 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 18 races.

Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 654 points after one win, 14 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 24 races driving the Jarrell Rigged Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.  Jarrell did not compete in Week 26 action.

David Windham of Florala, AL finished fifth on Saturday night at Southern Raceway to move up to the tenth and final points fund-paying spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings with one week to go in the 2015 season.  Windham has a best 14 week total of 652 points after three wins, 13 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 24 races driving the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet powered by a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

The “coming from out of nowhere” driver of the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season could be Sean Goodwin of Pensacola, FL.  Goodwin finished seventh on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the Harris Racing Chevrolet to come from outside the Top 20 in the point standings to settle into the 18th spot with 623 points and one more week to earn full points.

If Goodwin starts a feature race with eight or more cars in Week 27 action, he will earn a minimum of 41 points that would bring his season total up to 664 points and into the Top 10 of the standings and a seat at the NeSmith Racing Annual Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA.  A 50-point win for Goodwin would make him a candidate for a Top 5 spot.

In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 26 action, Chris Bayhi of Pensacola, FL drove the Bayhi Racing Chevrolet to his third win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway.  NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division officials are still waiting for the Week 25 results from Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN, which could make a difference in the Top 20 of the point standings.

Seven of the Top 10 drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings; including the Top 3, after the first 26 weeks of competition, have a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine under the hoods of their respective race cars.  To place an order, call Tim Bland at NeSmith Chevrolet, Buick and GMC in Claxton, GA at 1-877-497-3624.
