NeSMITH PERFORMANCE PARTS STREET STOCK DIVISION WEEK 24 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – It’s going to be a busy Week 24 for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competitors with three chances to earn points on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus get a head start on Week 25 with a Monday race. The Labor Day Holiday Weekend marks the beginning of the homestretch run in the final four weeks of the 2015 season.

Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will highlight the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 24 schedule with a pair of $1,000-to-win races with no extra entry fee on Saturday night and Sunday night as a part of the Labor Day Shootout. There will be a Week 9 Make-Up Feature Race from a May 24 rainout at The Mag on Saturday night.

There will be five races on the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 24 schedule with Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS opening up the action with a Friday night race. Southern Raceway in Milton, FL will run on Saturday night, and Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN will run on Sunday night.

Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will open NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 25 competition on Monday night with a $1,000-to-win race. A schedule of the final four weeks of the 2015 season has been posted below.

Richie Stephens of Salem, AL is the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point leader with a perfect 14 week total of 700 points and 20 wins. Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS is second, and still has a mathematical chance to defeat Stephens for the National title. The window of opportunity is still open for Strength, but it is very small.

In order for Strength to win the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship, he would have to post ten more wins to do it. Strength has a best 14 week total of 697 points with 11 wins on the season. Looking at the remaining races this season, Strength would have to post a win each night the series has a race. All Strength has left to net on are three 49-point second-place finishes.

All of that is provided that Stephens doesn’t get win number 21 in the remaining races. One more win for Stephens, and it’s all over. The only thing that can change that scenario is for any eligible tracks to schedule Double Features in the last three weeks of the season.

There are several other drivers battling for one of the Top 10 points fund-paying positions and a seat at the Annual NeSmith Racing Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA.

Brandon Harris of Molino, FL is third in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 689 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47. Steve Pate of Heflin, AL is fourth with a best 14 week total of 669 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Bo Bailey of Milton, FL is fifth with a best 14 week total of 663 points, and he will be trying to net on a 44.

Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL is sixth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 662 points, and he will try to net on a 44. Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 654 points, and he will try to net on a 45.

Kevin Mitchell of Pensacola, FL is eighth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 649, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS is ninth with a best 14 week total of 648 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43. David Williamson of Seminary, MS rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 643 points, and he will try to net on a 43.

Three drivers outside the Top 10 that have a chance to move up into one of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division points fund-paying positions in the coming weeks are Brandon Kilpatrick of Jay, FL, Calvin Cook of Pace, FL, and Jeff Butler of Mendenhall, MS.

Kilpatrick is 11th in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 637 points. Kilpatrick is trying to net on a 38, so a 50-point win would gain him 12 points. Cook is 17th in the standings with 565 points, but he has two more weeks to earn full points. Butler is 18th in the standings with 559 points, and he also has two more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $5,000 National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.
