NeSMITH/AR BODIES STREET STOCK DIVISION WEEK 22 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The battle for the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies National Championship continues this weekend with Week 22 of the 27-week season.  Point leader Richie Stephens of Salem, AL reached the perfect 14 week total of 700 point last weekend with his 18th win of the season.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL and Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS are looking to continue their challenge for the title with six weeks left in the season.  Strength took his tenth win of the season last weekend, and Harris has seven 50-point wins this season.  There are six weeks left in the season with 11 possible races to earn points when you consider Double Features.

There will be limited action on the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 22 schedule due to the 3rd Annual Southern Street Stock Nationals on Friday and Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

The Friday night portion of the Southern Street Stock Nationals will feature a pair of $1,000-to-win races, with the odd numbered qualifiers racing in the first race, and the even numbered qualifiers racing in the second feature.  Drivers in both features will compete for Week 22 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division points.

Saturday night NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 22 point races will be held at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Strength is four wins away from the perfect 700 point mark.  If Strength reaches that milestone and ties Stephens in points at the top of the point standings, the tie-breaker will come into play, and the first tie-breaker is number of 50 point win wins.  In order to tie or exceed Stephens’s total of 18 50-point wins, Both Strength and Harris will need help from eligible tracks scheduling double features to make up races that were rained out earlier in the season.

While there are no double features scheduled for Week 22, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS has announced they will run Double Features for Week 23 on August 29.  The first feature will be a Week 1 Make Up Race, and the second feature will award Week 23 points.  Jackson Motor Speedway was the site of Strength’s win last Saturday night.

All three title contenders can stay in the hunt with Double Feature wins at Jackson Motor Speedway on August 29.  Eligible NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division tracks have until a 12 noon deadline on Monday to schedule a Double Feature event for that week.  Beyond Week 23, there are no Double Features on the schedule for Weeks 24 through 27.

In order for Strength to stay alive, he will need one more week of Double Features to have a chance to tie Stephens in the win total, and Harris is going to need to win in Week 22, and then win double features each week for the remainder of the season to stay in contention for the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Championship.

If Stephens wins a race or races, and for each week eligible tracks do not schedule Double Features, the window of opportunity for Harris and Strength to challenge for the title gets smaller.  The Championship scenarios will change rapidly as the remaining weeks of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competition click off.

Not only is the 2015 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Championship being contested in the last six weeks of the season, but also the Top 10 points fund-paying positions and the right to be honored at the Annual NeSmith Racing Awards Banquet in January at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame and Thunder Road Museum in Dawsonville, GA.

Harris is second to Stephens in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings with 689 points, and Strength is third with 688 points.  Steve Pate of Heflin, AL is fourth with 668 points, and Bo Bailey of Milton, FL is fifth with 662 points.  Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL is sixth with 660 points, and Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is seventh with 651 points.

Kevin Mitchell of Pensacola, FL is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 649 points, and David Williamson of Seminary, MS is ninth with 643 points.  Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 642 points, and he has an 11-point advantage over the 11th-place driver Cliff Childers of Terry, MS.

Drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27.  The $5,000 National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competitors also have the option to compete with the economical steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine that is available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA for $3,495 with free next day delivery anywhere in the Southeast.

Five of the Top 7 drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings, including the top three, after the first 21 weeks of competition, and five of the six Week 21 race winners have a $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine under the hoods of their respective race cars.  To place an order, call Tim Bland at NeSmith Chevrolet, Buick and GMC in Claxton, GA at 1-877-497-3624.
