Jason Krohn Takes Two USMTS Wins in Weekend Action; Jamboree Next

Slayton, Minnesota (09/08/15) – Jason Krohn has had limited starts in his Krohn Farms #7k MB Customs Modified in 2015, but over the weekend he performed at the highest level by bagging a pair of United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) victories.

On Wednesday night Jason Krohn returned to action in his Krohn Farms #7k MB Customs Modified at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa). With twenty-two cars signed in for the Hunt for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup event, Jason transferred into the feature with a 4th place finish in his heat. Battling for a $3,000 payday in the finale, Krohn retired with handling issues to a 20th place finish.

The next night brought Jason to Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota), competing in the tenth night of The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup.  Coming from 7th in his heat, Krohn cruised to the victory, setting him up for the feature event. Advancing seven spots in the feature event, Jason Krohn bagged the $3,000 A-Main victory with Jason Hughes, Jason Cummins, Jesse Sobbing, and Rodney Sanders trailing him to the finish line. Leading all but five laps, Jason captured his second feature win of the season.

On Saturday night Jason headed to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for another Hunt for the Casey’s Cup program. Drawing a stout field of forty-four Open Wheel Modifieds, Krohn transferred into the feature with a 2nd place finish in his heat. Battling for another $3,000 payday in the 40-lap A-Main, Jason Krohn captured his 3rd win of the season with Zack VanderBeek, Jason Hughes, Dereck Ramirez, and Joe Duvall rounding out the top five.

“We haven’t raced the Modified much this year, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect this weekend, but these two wins definitely far exceeded any and all expectations that we had,” Krohn said with a smile. “It’s really exciting to have performed so well at Deer Creek. Hopefully we can have a repeat performance at the Fall Jamboree in a few weeks.”

Billy Moyer Jr. Bests CCSDS Home State Action; World 100 Next

Batesville, Arkansas (09/08/15) – For the third weekend in a row Billy Moyer Jr. pocketed the winner’s check in a pair of events behind the wheel of his Crop Production Services #21jr Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Friday night Billy Moyer Jr. made the trip to Crowley’s Ridge Raceway (Paragould, Arkansas) for the Labor Day Classic sanctioned by the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS). Drawing a field of twenty-seven entries, Billy earned the 8th place starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. Tony Jackson Jr. Tops MARS Foes at Monett

Lebanon, Missouri (09/08/15) – Tony Jackson Jr. snared the $4,000 top prize on Sunday evening aboard his Henryetta Ford #56 Black Diamond by Club 29/Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model in the 4th Annual Four State Dirt Track Championship, which was sanctioned by the Mid America Racing Series (MARS).

On Sunday night Tony Jackson Jr. made the trip to Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri) for the Mid America Racing Series (MARS) DIRTcar-sanctioned, Four State Dirt Track Championship. Twenty-six Super Late Models entered the program. After starting 6th on the feature grid Jackson Jr. battled in the top five throughout the event for the $4,000 paycheck, before ultimately taking the lead and claiming the win. Jesse Stovall, Justin Wells, Cole Wells, and Brandon McCormick completed the top five as Jackson Jr. claimed his 5th victory on the 2015 season.

“That was a great race at Monett, and I’m just proud to have emerged victorious,” commented Jackson Jr. “This tour keeps getting tougher and tougher, so to beat guys like Stovall and Wells is no easy feat.”

Jason Hughes Wins at Chateau; Takes USMTS Hunt Point Lead

Westville, Oklahoma (09/08/15) – Jason Hughes claimed his third win of the 2015 Hunt for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup in his #12 Red Tail Tackle/Hughes Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified over the holiday weekend. In doing so he also assumed control of the top spot in the standings.

Jason Hughes returned to action on Wednesday by visiting Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) for the next round of the Hunt for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Casey’s Cup. Drawing twenty-two Open Wheel Modifieds, Jason cruised to a heat race win. Starting in 8th for the feature event, Hughes captured a 5th place finish behind Jesse Sobbing, Johnny Scott, Dan Ebert, and Cory Crapser.

The following night brought Hughes to Fairmont Raceway (Fairmont, Minnesota) to compete in the tenth night of action in the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Bagging another heat race win in a solid field of thirty entries, Jason transferred into the feature with a 7th place starting position. Competing for a $3,000 payday, Hughes landed a runner-up finish to Jason Krohn with Jason Cummings, Jesse Sobbing, and Rodney Sanders rounding out the top five.

With thirty-three Open Wheel Modifieds signed in for battle on Friday night at Chateau Raceway (Lansing, Minnesota), Jason Hughes scored a heat race win, transferring him into the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup feature event. Coming from the 4th starting spot, Hughes bagged his 8th victory on the season. Capturing a $3,000 payday, Stormy Scott, Ryan Gustin, Daniel Hilsabeck, and Jason Cummins trailed Hughes to the finish line.

On Saturday night Jason made the trip to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for night #12 of the Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Gaining three spots in his heat race, Jason scored a runner-up finish to Ben Kates. With a pole position starting spot for the feature, Jason led early before slipping to a 3rd place outing behind race winner, Jason Krohn, and Zack VanderBeek with Dereck Ramirez and Joe Duvall completing the top five.

Wrapping up the busy five-day stint in the USMTS, Jason Hughes headed to Cresco Speedway (Cresco, Iowa) on Sunday night. Logging a 2nd place finish in his heat, Hughes earned the 4th  starting spot for the 35-lap feature. Battling for another $3,500 in the Casey’s General Stores A-Main, Hughes bagged a runner-up finish to Rodney Sanders with Casey Arneson, Jesse Sobbing, and Ryan Gustin trailing them to the finish line.

Mark Whitener Conquers Cochran for $10k; Volusia Speedway Park Next

Middleburg, Florida (09/08/15) – Mark Whitener romped to the $10,000 victory behind the wheel of the Big Frog Motorsports #58 Integra Shocks/Rocket Super Late Model in the rain-delayed, 2nd Annual Georgia Showdown at Cochran Motor Speedway.

With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Mark earned the 5th place starting spot on Saturday evening in the unsanctioned event. Charging to the lead early in the race, Whitener cruised to the 50-lap A-Main victory with Keith Edge, Bob Robertson, Cole Exum, and Steven Bloodworth rounding out the top five. The victory, which was his seventh of the season with the team, was also the richest of the year for Whitener.
On Sunday evening the National Late Model Series (NLMS) sanctioned the event. Twenty-two Late Models signed in for the $3,000-to-win event at Cochran Motor Speedway. Recording the 9th fastest time in qualifying, Whitener earned a top ten starting spot for the main event. Improving three spots, Mark Whitener recorded a 6th place finish in the 40-lapper.

“We had a great car from the drop of the green flag on Saturday night, and once out front I knew if I didn’t make any mistakes that we would get the win,” said Whitener. “On Sunday evening it was a little more difficult to navigate traffic, but it was still a good night for the team.

Riley Hickman Sweeps Tennessee Specials; World 100 Next

Cleveland, Tennessee (09/08/15) – Riley Hickman enjoyed a very successful Labor Day weekend in his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 Austin Trucking/Club 29 Super Late Model as he raced to a pair of $3,500 victories in his home state.

Riley Hickman headed to Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, Tennessee) on Saturday night for the Super Late Model Labor Day special. Paying $3,500 to the feature winner, Riley laid down the quickest lap in time trials. With 40-laps set on the scoreboard, Riley captured the Labor Day special event notching his 14th victory on the 2015 season. He was followed across the finish line by Eric Hickerson, Brad Skinner, Josh Putnam, and Daniel Miller.

The following night brought Hickman to Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee) for another unsanctioned $3,500 to win feature event. Drawing twenty-three Super Late Models for the Sam Pugh Late Model Extravaganza, Riley recorded the quickest time in qualifying. Inheriting the lead on lap 15, Riley cruised to his fifteenth feature win. Holding off Tanner English for the final laps, Hickman grabbed a two-win weekend with English, David Gentry, Eric Hickerson, and Josh Putman completing the top five.
“It feels good to win anytime, but it really feels good to get two big wins in my home state,” Hickman said with a smile. “Now I can only hope that this was all a tune-up for a strong performance at Eldora Speedway this coming weekend.”

Shane Clanton Wins at Lernerville; Focused on Second World 100 Title

Zebulon, Georgia (09/08/15) –Shane Clanton visited late in World of Outlaws Late Model Series action for the tenth time in 2015 on Friday night with a $10,000 triumph at Lernerville Speedway in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Shane Clanton returned to action on Friday night by making the trip to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) for the World of Outlaws Late Models Series (WoO) sanctioned, 2nd Annual Working Man 50.  In a field of forty-two Super Late Models Shane scored a 2nd place finish in his heat to Chub Frank to earn a spot in the feature redraw. Moments after receiving the pole position in the redraw, Shane dominated the field, cruising to his fourteenth victory on the season with Josh Richards, Frank Heckenast Jr., Davey Johnson, and Rick Eckert trailing him to the finish line.

On Saturday night thirty-nine entries signed in at Lernerville Speedway for the 9th Annual Firecracker 100, which was rescheduled from June due to rain. Capturing a 10-lap heat race victory, Shane Clanton transferred into the 100-lap affair with a 7th place starting position. Improving five spots in the feature event paying $30,000 to the winner, Clanton scored a runner-up finish to Rick Eckert with Jared Miley, Chase Junghans, and Josh Richards rounding out the top five.
