Keeton claims John Lightsey Memorial on final lap

Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, won the 25 lap John Robert Lightsey Memorial Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Keeton was at the right place at the right time on the final lap using a lap car to get by Meridians, Jim McDuffie coming off turn four giving him his third win of the season at "the Action Track of the South".

"My car was fast on the top side" Keeton said. " I had a tough time trying to pass on the bottom because my car had a push".

Evan Ellis and Randy Boyd won the Late Model heat races. Jim McDuffie picked up the White Lightning Auto Sales $100 fast time award over 31 Late Models with a 13.836 and "The Rebel" Tody Ratcliff won the $100 hard charger award by George Sisson of Sisson Motorsports advancing from 21st to sixth.

"Mr. Whynot" Kyle Rutledge pulled off his second double of the season winning the Open Wheel Modified and the Street Stock features. J.c Pearson won the Min Stock feature. Chris Woodham won the Stinger feature and Josh Carpenter won the Pure Stock feature.

Race fans get ready for a big weekend of racing at Whynot as the NeSmith Chevrolet National Dirt Late Model tour rolls into town for two complete shows on Friday and Saturday night. Thursday night will be practice night from 6pm to 10pm. Friday nights action will include a 40 lap $2000 to win Late Model race, plus heat and feature races in the Mini Stock, Stinger and Pure Stocks. On Saturday night, the Late models will be running a 50 lap $2500 to win race, plus heats and features in the Street Stock and Open Wheel Modifieds. Plus the two seater Late Model will be here raising money for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society selling tickets for the ride of your life. Some lucky fans will get their chance for the ride of their life with one of their favorite drivers at race speed.
