McCool battles to first career PRO Series win

by Scott White

Bub McCool of Vickburg, overcame an intense midrace challenge from Meridian's Jim McDuffie and David Breazeale of Four Corners, to claim the 40 lap $2,000 to win round three of the P.R.O. Dirt Car Super Late Model Four Crown Nationals at Whynot Motorsports Park.

"We've been racing a lot of big money races on the national scene this year" McCool said in victory lane. "It's great to be back close to home and get a win".

A stellar field of thirty-seven Super Late Models assembled at the action track of the south as McCool took fast time of the evening with a blistering 12.957 around the 3/8 mile dirt oval.

McCool jumped out to an early lead over Jimmy Cliburn and appeard to be a man on a mission as he entered lap traffic by lap eight stretching his lead by a half track. Meanwhile, two, three and four wide racing all the way back ensued behind him.

The only caution flag of the race flew on lap 15 for a stalled Bradley Price. On the restart McCool found himself in an intense battle after two laps as McDuffie took the lead on lap 17 running the top side. On the next lap,  Breazeale followed taking second as McCool slipped back to third. But McCool never give up as he stayed committed to the botton of the race track and worked his way back to the lead on lap 22 and led the final 18 circuits. Breazeale finished second, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, AL third, Chad Thrash of Collinsville fourth and Jim McDuffie fifth.

After some tough luck last weekend Randy King returned to victory lane in the Open Wheel Modified feature driving the LSI Landsharks/  Pee Wee's Performance Exhaust/ Ethridge Race Parts/ A-1 Glass/ Burgess Outdoor Power/ Custom Creations/ Dirt Works.

After a wild battle with Jeffery Walker and David Turner throughout the race, "Mr Whynot" Kyle Rutledge won the Street Stock feature driving the Wilson's Septic Systems/ Advance Auto Parts/ LaPinata Mexican Restaurant/ Whynot Garage/ Sinclair Auto Sales/ Chevy Monte Carlo.
Tim Dees won the Pure Stock feature driving the Pee Wee's Performance Exhaust/ Custom Creations/ Chevy Camaro

Race fans, Whynot will take this weekend off July 10th and return to action in two weeks on Saturday July 17th with the MSCCS Super Late Models for more information visit our facebook page or go to www.whynotmotorsportspark.com
