Hill, tops Pure Stocks at Whynot

Todd Hill of Linden, AL driving the T&L racing/ Chevelle, won the Pure Stock feature Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. Hill earned the win from his fourth starting position and ended a seven year streak without a feature win.

"This win is special" Hill said in victory lane. "Not just because we won, but my father also passed away while we were building this car. He helped me a lot with my racing and he will be missed". Following Hill across the finish line were Tim Dees second, Wayne Bucklew third, Tim Culpepper fourth and Mike Hudler fifth.

Jim McDuffie of Meridian driving the H.E. Mosley Inc./ Boland Performance/ Trak Star, picked up his second win of the season in the NeSmith Chevrolet weekly racing series Late Model feature, Larry Murphy finished second, Jamey Smith third, Randy Boyd fourth and Lucky Keeton fifth.

Randy King of Meridian, driving the  Pee Wee's Performance Exhaust/ Ethridge Race Parts/ A-1 Glass/ Burgess Outdoor Power/ Custom Creations/ Dirt Works won his fourth Open Wheel Modified feature race of 2010. Gregg Hollingsworth finished second, Tim Rutledge third, Rodney Etheridge fourth and Jamie Mozingo fifth.

Artis Bunyard of Toomsuba, driving the York Drugs/ Shon's Painting/ Kewanee One Stop/ STR race cars/ Hollywood's Paint Shack/ Pontiac Firebird won another thiller on the final lap in the Street Stock feature. "Mr. Whynot" Kyle Rutledge had a dominating performance after taking the lead early in the race started having mechanical problems with six laps remaining, allowed Bunyard to catch him on the final lap and make the winning pass on the final turn. "We've had nothing but bad luck this year" the 2009 track champion said. "I thought we had our first feature win of the season tonight and we came up short again". Kevin Reeves finished third, Wayne Medders fourth and David Turner fifth.

Tony Coffman won his first Mini Stock feature race of the season at Whynot. Tony Crosby finished second, Glenn Odom Jr. third, Robert Underwood fourth and David Franklin fifth.

Brandon Leftwich won his third feature of the season in the Stingers. Andy Talyor finished second, Paco Munoz third, Caleb Langford fourth and Mindi Sisson fifth.

Get ready race fans, the high horsepowered fuel injected Winged Outlaw Sprint cars will make their first appearance of the season this Saturday night. Also racing the NeSmith weekly racing series Late Models, Open Wheel Modified, Street Stock, Mini Stock, Pure Stock and Stingers.
