Vowel takes first career win at Whynot

Scotty Vowel of Philadelphia driving the Scotty's Recycling/ Pontiac Firebird won his first career Street Stock feature race Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Vowel led from start to finish and also gained valuable points in the chase for the track championship as he sits in fourth. Trailing him to the finish is the current points leader "Mr Whynot" Kyle Rutledge. Artis Bunyard finished third and is second in points. Wayne Medders finished fourth and Jeffery Walker, third in points finished fifth.

  Jim McDuffie of Meridian driving the H.E. Mosley Inc./ Boland Performance/ Trak Star, won the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Dirt Late Model feature for the second week in a row and tightened up the points race. McDuffie is just 38 points behind the leader Randy Boyd who finished third on the night. "J-Mac" Justin McRee finished second, Larry Muphy second in points finished fourth, and Wiley Williams fifth.

Kyle Rutledge of Whynot, driving the Wilson's Septic Systems/ Advance Auto Parts/ LaPinata Mexican Restaurant/ Whynot Garage/ Sinclair Auto Sales, won the Open Wheel Modified feature race. Mike Paillou finished second, points leader Randy King third and Randy McBride fourth.

Tim Dees extended his points lead winning the Pure Stock feature driving the Pee Wee's Performance Exhaust/ Custom Creations/ Chevy Camaro, Coonie Luker finished second, Mike Hudler third, Rodney Wing fourth and Andy Williams fifth.

Kenneth Gates won the Mini Stock feature over points leader David Franklin. Joel Eckman finished third, Alton Evans fourth and Tyler Evans fifth.

The Stingers were back in action this week with Brandon Leftwich extending his points lead taking the win, Chris Haglar finished second, Chad Roberts third, Cliff Wilson fourth and Anna Vowel fifth.
