King continues dominance at Whynot

by Scott White

Randy King of Meridian driving the LSI Landsharks/  Pee Wee's Performance Exhaust/ Ethridge Race Parts/ A-1 Glass/ Burgess Outdoor Power/ Custom Creations/ Dirt Works continued to dominate the Open Wheel Modified division this past weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park.

King had trouble in his heat race giving him a ninth starting position in the main event. But wasted no time coming to the front and picking up his eight win of the season. Tim Rutledge finished second, Mike Pailou third, Kyle Rutledge fourth and Ronnie Jordan Jr. fifth.

"J Mac" Justin McRee of Cuba, AL driving the Henderson Motorsports/ Century Dedicated/ Trak Star won his fourth weekly NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model series of the season. McRee started fifth and with 14 laps remaining took the lead from Jim McDuffie. McDuffie caught McRee as the two entered lap traffic giving the edge to McRee as McDuffie had to settle for second. Eric Cooley was third, Larry Murphy fourth and Randy Boyd from 16th to finish fifth. Roger Rolison had quick time over 20 Late Models with a 13.962

"Mr Whynot" Kyle Rutledge made it two feature wins in a row picking up his third Street Stock win of the season. The 2008/2009 track champion struggled early this year, but appears to have found his groove back, Clayton Henry finished second, Jeffery Walker third, Joe McHan Jr. fourth and David Turner fifth.

J.C. Pearson won his first Kajun Mini Stock feature of the season as Tony Coffman crossed the finish line first, but did not pass tech inspection after the race giving the win to Pearson. Jennifer Shelton finished second, Kenneth Gates third, David Franklin fourth and Joel Eckman fifth.

Chip Jones won the Pure Stock feature with Dennis Bracken second, Andy Williams third, Tim Culpepper fourth and Tim Dees fifth.

The Winged Outlaw Cajun Sprinters were on hand Saturday night with 18 cars signed in to do battle at the action track of the south, and it was a wild one as Timmy Thrash would battle Michael Miller all the way to finish making the winning pass just as the two crossed the checkerd flag. Three Sprinters flipped throughout the nights events but no one was injured.

The action continues to heat up at Whynot for the next three weekends. This Saturday will be a special event for the Street Stocks. June 25th and 26th will be the Coca Cola Nationals feature the NeSmith Chevrolet National Dirt Late Model Series. And coming up July, 3rd the P.R.O Dirt Car Super Late Models return, plus the Red Fireworks Barn annual fireworks show for the holiday weekend during intermission. Don't miss it! For more information go to www.whynotmotorsportspark.com
