West Memphis, AR - November 14, 2009 - The brothers Swindell rarely share
the same racing surface anymore, but, this past weekend was different. Both
of them competed in the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series winged sprint
car portion of the Hensley Suzuki $50,000 USCS Fall Nationals presented by
Union Auto Parts at Riverside Speedway and battled for the top prize of
$10,000 at the track where they both began their racing careers.
2009 Riverside International Speedway sprint car Champion Jeff Swindell from
Bartlett, Tennessee won the first half of the twin $2500 to-win, 25-lap

legend Sammy Swindell from Germantown, Tennessee played the spoiler in the
second main event. Slammin' Sammy won the second 25-lap contest by holding
off brother Jeff Swindell in a shootout over the final two laps of the
contest to collect the second $2500 for himself and kept brother Jeff from
collecting on the $5000 bonus posted if he could win the second main-event

starting from 22nd position. Brother Sammy, who finished in the runner-up
spot in feature race number one, would start inside the 11th row next to him
for the second 25-lap battle for bucks.

Flip Flop 50 - Main Event Number Two:
West Memphis, AR - Sammy Swindell from Germantown, Tennessee won the second
25-lap portion of the Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series "Flip Flop" 50
during the Hensley Suzuki USCS Fall Nationals presented by Union Auto Parts
at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night. Swindell had followed
his brother Jeff Swindell to the finish line in the first 25-lap contest.
Sammy Swindell started 21st in the second of the twin 25-lap main events.
The second race started fully inverted from the finish of the first race.
While early race-leader, Andy McElhannon from Nesbit, Mississippi led the
field for the first seven laps, the senior of the two racing Swindell
brothers, worked his way methodically through the talented 24 car field.
Sammy was in tenth place on lap six. After a red flag on lap seven bunched
the field he was in eighth place.
Past series Champion Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas grabbed
the lead from McElhannon after the race's re-start. Sammy moved up to sixth
place on lap ten. He then advanced into the top five on lap fourteen. Ricky
Stenhouse, Jr. passed Skinner for the top spot on lap fourteen. Sammy was
fourth on lap seventeen and moved into the runner-up spot just before a
caution period on lap eighteen for a driver who spun on the slippery racing
surface.
For the next five laps Swindell challenged race leader Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
for the lead. Stenhouse had taken the lead on lap fifteen. Just as the well
known duo passed the flagstand and completed lap twenty-three, contact was
made between the two cars and Stenhouse got the worst of it. Stenhouse's
race was over with his car against the wall and too damaged to continue.
On the re-start Sammy Swindell had brother Jefff Swindell on his rear
bumper, just one car away from the $7500 top prize that would be his if he
could advance one more position. Showing that brotherly love only gets one
so far, Sammy raced as hard as he could go to collect the victory and left
brother Jeff Swindell in the runner-up spot in the thrilling second main
event.
Veteran, Seven-time series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who
started thirteenth finished in the final podium spot in third place. Veteran
Sprint Car Hall of Famer Ricky Hood from Phoenix, Arizona, who started
fifteenth, followed Gray in fourth place. "Worldwide" Paul Sides from
Bartlett, Tennessee rounded out the top five positions.
Raymond Stull from Independence, Mississippi garnered his second sixth place
finish of the night in the tough 35 car field. A.G. Rains from west Memphis,
Arkansas was seventh followed by Jan Howard from Marion, Arkansas in eighth
place. Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi collected the ninth place
paycheck and Ernie Ainsworth from Bartlett, Tennessee rounded out the top
ten finishers.
In the other divisions featured on Saturday night in the Hensley Suzuki USCS
Fall Nationals 2009 presented by Union Auto Parts, Eddie Gallagher from
Piperton, Tennessee won the $1000 to win Wingless 305 Sprint Car
Championship race. Chris Moore from Nesbit, Mississippi won the $1500 to
win Rislone USCS Modified 35-lap main event. Travis Senter from Osceola,
Arkansas collected the $500 in the 25-lap 600cc Mini Sprint feature. David
McCarver won the $1000 to win 30-lap Stock Car Championship race.
