The hottest summer night of the year didn’t deter fans from coming out in large numbers for another great night of on-track racing this evening at North Central Arkansas Speedway for the first time appearance of the Southern Outlaw Late Model Series.

The Hobby Stock class got the feature races started as Chris Davidson and Richard Carson set the pace exiting turn four to take the green flag. Davidson claimed the early lead leaving Carson to fight with Chad Horton over second place. Horton moved past Carson on lap five before chasing down the leader Davidson and taking the lead on lap eight. The action was intense through the middle portion of the race as Horton had his hands full holding off the many challenges of Davidson and right behind the battle for the lead Carson and Kevin Collins raced hard over the third position in the running order. As the laps piled up on the scorecards Horton pulled away to take the win, Davidson finished in second and Carson held off Collins to take home third.

After a false start the Pure Stock feature race ran caution-free. Matthew Seaman held the pole position at the start and the lead after lap one with Coty Campbell, Dylan Pinson and Jimmie Blair in close pursuit. Blair picked up the second spot on lap five and after racing side-by-side with Seaman on lap ten took over the lead on lap eleven. Seaman battled back to race alongside the leader through lap thirteen, but Horton was able to eventually pull away out in front to claim the win. Seaman finished second and Pinson crossed the finish stripe in third.

Jared Hayes held the pole position for the Super Stock feature race with Buddy Parks starting the race immediately to the right of Hayes. Hayes jumped out to the early advantage and looked prepared to dominate the event until a hit on the wall in turns one and two brought out the only yellow flag of the event. Methvin inherited the lead after getting past Parks and Joe Davenport before the caution lights came on and swapped spots at the front with Parks on laps three and four before taking the top spot for the balance of the race on lap five. Curt Cotter and Parks dueled over the second spot after the restart until Cotter took over the second spot on lap fifteen. Cotter closed slightly on the leader Methvin but never got close enough to fight for the win. Methvin picked up his first Super Stock feature win of the year with Cotter crossing the line in second and Parks in third at the end.

Jason Brigman held off an early challenge for the third position from Jason Snodgrass as John Briggs fought with Dustin Shaw for track position behind them. A three-car accident on lap eight brought out the only yellow flag of the race, ending the night prematurely for both Shaw and Briggs. The Southern Outlaw Late Model Series closed out the night of racing with a thirty lap caution-free event. Justin Wells and Randall Griffin led the field to the starting line and Wells grabbed the lead exiting turn two, never looking back on his way to victory lane. Darren Mooneyham started behind the pole-sitter Wells and followed Wells past Griffin down the back straight, but as the field exited turn four Griffin held the second spot on the high side of the track with Mooneyham and Garrett Essary making it three-wide at the line fighting for position. Mooneyham moved past Griffin into second on lap three leaving Griffin and Essary to fight door to door behind him over third. Essary moved past Griffin into third on lap seven, and Hunter Duren moved up through the field to do battle with Griffin on the same circuit, taking the fourth spot at the line on lap eight. Duren made several attempts to get past Essary trying both the high and low lines looking for an advantage before finally taking over third on lap eighteen. As the laps wound down, Wells maintained his advantage over Mooneyham as the leaders worked through slower traffic with Duren closing on the top two cars. Wells used a lapped car late in the event to pull away from Mooneyham for the win, Mooneyham finished second and Duren crossed the finish line running third.
