North Central Arkansas Speedway, 6-27-14

Warm and humid conditions greeted everyone in attendance this evening at North Central Arkansas Speedway for the first night of summertime racing action.

The Pure Stock feature race was paced to the starting green flag with Matthew Seaman and Dylan Pinson out in front. Pinson drove to the lead exiting turn two with Seaman pressing close behind him in the second spot. Danny Bolen brought out the only yellow flag of the race on lap six as he rolled to a stop in turn four. Pinson lead the field back to the green flag as Seaman raced close behind the leader looking for a place to pass for the lead. Seaman pulled even with Pinson crossing the start/finish line on laps fourteen and fifteen, but Pinson cleared Seaman for good on the back-straight of lap sixteen to pick up the win. Seaman finished in the second spot with Larry West coming home third.

After an aborted attempt to start the Hobby feature race, the field went green with Donny Herring in the pole position. Kevin Collins had the high line at the start and Collins, Richard Carson and Daniel Sisco all got past Herring by the end of lap one. Carson applied pressure on Collins for the lead through lap ten when a slip in turn two caused Carson to lose touch with the leader. Sisco soon began to challenge Carson for second, but as the final laps ticked off Carson distanced himself from Sisco. Collins drove to the win with Carson crossing the line second and Sisco third.

Curt Cotter led the field to the start of the Super Stock feature race, but it was outside pole-sitter Jessie Shearin who topped the scorecard on lap one. Cotter charged Shearin on the bottom of the track in every corner for the first four circuits but couldn’t get himself into the lead. As the laps counted down, Shearin stretched his advantage out in front to claim the win, Cotter finished second and Robert Leamons drove home in third.

The USRA B-Modified feature race saw pole-sitter John Briggs and outside pole-sitter Logan Martin racing side-by-side through turn three. After the opening lap was complete Martin outdistanced Briggs, leaving Jason Brigman to do battle with Briggs over second. Steve Muilenburg made it a three-wide fight for second on laps four and five across the start/finish line before mechanical problems sidelined Brigman for the night. Muilenburg got past Briggs for second on lap six and set off in pursuit of Martin, but Martin would leave the track for good on lap ten giving Muilenburg the lead. Muilenburg drove to the win, Brigs held on for second and Jason Snodgrass finished in third.

In go-cart action at intermission, the #14 of Camden Cotter was the winner, followed across the line by the #113 of Chance Cotter and the #29 of Eathon Sisco

The Comp Cams Super Dirt Series makes it’s only North Central Arkansas Speedway appearance of 2014 on Friday night July 11th. All of the top series drivers and rookie of the year contenders are expected to be on-hand, along with many of the area late model racing fan favorites.

North Central Arkansas Speedway is located between Yellville and Flippin on Hwy. 62-412. The gates open at 6:00, with the racing starting at 8:00.
