Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Event at Thunderbowl Raceway Postponed Due to Rain
Tulare, CA— February 21, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director

Excessive rain has forced Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series officials to postpone this weekend’s event at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California.

With three races completed in 2008, three different drivers have won A-Feature events with the series. Craig Dollansky heads this list, as he leads the championship standings after a win on the opening night of the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has finished in the Top-Five of all three races, as has Jason Meyers, who is just 10 markers behind Dollansky in the standings. Meyers won the second event of the season, after a thrilling battle with two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion also has an A-Feature win this season, as he was victorious on the final night of the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals to bring his career total to 81 A-Feature wins with the series.

Schatz, who is chasing his third consecutive World of Outlaws title began the year with two second-place finishes and also charged from the 24th starting spot to finish eighth in the finale of the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals. The North Dakota native is third in the standings, just 23 markers out of the lead. He also won two events to open the season with the All Star Circuit of Champions, including in his debut for Tony Stewart Racing.

Joey Saldana has started the season on a strong note as well, with three Top-10 finishes and is fourth in points, with Terry McCarl, who has two Top-Five finishes rounding out the Top-Five in the championship standings.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will return to action on Saturday, March 1 at the famed Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix for the Cactus Classic. For ticket information visit: http://www.slspromotions.com.

Exciting 2008 ASCS Patriot Schedule Released

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (February 20, 2008)- In what will arguably be the most exciting year on the ASCS Patriot Tour, out comes a schedule that fits for both racers and fans alike.

While still not finished, the American Sprint Car Series Patriot Region schedule was released, with new venues, new states, and new big money races sure to bring out teams and fans in droves.

Currently, 18 full-point races are placed on the schedule, with up to four events still to be finalized.  This puts the Patriot Schedule right where Regional Director Mike Emhof feels it has to be.

“This schedule minimizes travel and maximizes excitement,” noted Emhof.  “To be able to shrink our travel radius and add many more bonus-paying races, everyone wins from a schedule like this.”

For the second straight year, the Patriot schedule will kick off on the first weekend in May at the Fulton Speedway.  This will also again be the start to the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series Within a Series.

The high-banked action continues with a stop at the Woodhull Raceway before a two-race Memorial Weekend Swing in Pennsylvania.  While the May 24 race is yet to be released, the Sunday event will be held at the thrilling Eriez Speedway.

The Patriots make a return to the award-winning Merrittville Speedway in 2008 in Southern Ontario the following week, with the “Land of Legends”, the Canandaigua Speedway, continuing the stretch of efficient Saturday shows to kick off the season.

A week off sets the stage for another Western Weekend at a speedway to be named and a return to Eriez.  The month rounds out with the traditional late-June event at Western New York’s Famed Ransomville Speedway.

July kicks off with a bang as the Ohsweken Speedway plays host to the ASCS Northern Summer Nationals with the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt.  This two night event will pay over $30,000 in purse on the weekend and with it being a holiday on Friday, will allow teams time to travel to “The Big O”.

The following Friday, the Brewerton Speedway will host their first ASCS Patriot event, and the first sprint car race at the track in 12 years for an event teams and fans have been dreaming about for years.  The month winds out with the 1st Annual Bill Alhart Memorial at Genesee Speedway, followed by a trip down the NYS Thruway for the A-Verdi Sprint Show at Cayuga County the following night.

After select teams travel out to Knoxville to kick off August, the 10th Annual NY Nationals, this year presented by Insinger Race Fuels and S.P. Wilson Gas, will take place at Black Rock Speedway for a $5,000 top prize.

Humberstone Speedway hosts their final sprint event of the season with the Patriots on August 24, while the Fulton Speedway tentatively will once again host the early September event that last year had the season-high car count.

After a weekend for the $8,000-to-win Arrow Express Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken, the Patriots travel to a new track and a new state, as they run two dates at the Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio.  The Saturday night portion of the Apple Festival Nationals will be in conjunction with the World of Outlaws while the Sunday event will be run in the afternoon and pay $2,000-to-win.

The 2008 point season concludes with the new and exciting event at the Cayuga County Fair Speedway on Friday, October 10, as part of Super DIRT Week.  This is sure to have plenty of energy, as well as top teams, surrounding this event.  On Saturday Night, the checkered flag on the season will win with the annual $3,000-to-win Super DIRT Week Sprint Car Challenge at the Rolling Wheels Raceway.

Many races could still be added before the first race.
