Tyler Erb Bags Louisiana State Championship

Magnolia, Texas (11/03/14) – Baton Rouge Raceway (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) played host to the annual Louisiana State Championship over the weekend, which boosted a $2,000 top prize for competitors, and Tyler Erb scored the victory in his #91 Erb Racing/Rocket by Litton Super Late Model.

Twenty-seven entries filled the pit area at the 3/8 mile oval, and Tyler started his outing with a convincing heat race win to lock into the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature.

As the race went green, Erb jumped to a comfortable lead and never looked back. He would have to carefully maneuver his way through lapped traffic to avoid the same disaster he suffered one-year-ago, when a pair of slower cars tangled and collected Tyler in the mix. Rob Litton trailed Erb the entire race and would make one last attempt to snare the top spot on the final lap. Litton was denied the position as Erb cruised to the checkered flag for his second victory of the season.

"Wow, what a race we had with Litton," said an elated Erb. "I won't lie, I was worried a couple of times that lapped cars were going to get us this year like they did last year, but luckily we made it through to score the win. I want to thank my family, my sponsors, and my crew for helping to make this win happen."

Rodney Sanders Wreaks Havoc for Halloween Win

Happy, Texas (11/03/14) – The 2014 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) National Champion, Rodney Sanders returned to action with the tour over the weekend, competing in the inaugural Halloween Havoc at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma), where he scored his 35th win of the season in his Swan Energy #20 Kimrad Transport/MB Customs Open Wheel Modified.

Thursday night's, $2,000-to-win opening event drew a solid field of thirty-six entries to the 3/8 mile oval, and in preliminary action Rodney advanced from the fifth starting to finish third in his heat race, which locked him into the eleventh starting spot for the 30 lap feature. Sanders went on to finish second in the main event behind race winner, Stormy Scott. Completing the top five were Cade Dillard, Kelly Shryock and Jeremy Payne.

Friday evening found the winner's check increased to $3,000 with thirty-seven entries registered for battle. Rodney charged to a convincing heat race win, which sent him to the redraw where he was the recipient of the second starting position for the 40 lap main event. When the race went green, Sanders outdueled pole-sitter Kelly Shryock to lead the first lap. After holding a comfortable lead over Shryock for most of the race, with five laps remaining Sanders used a slide job to get around the lapped car of Clyde Dunn Jr. and secure the victory.

“It locked down around the top a little past halfway there, and I was just following Clyde around where it was fast,” Sanders said after the race. “I figured if I had any kind of lead I probably lost it while I was following so I knew I had to do something.”

Sanders held Shryock at bay over the final laps to cross the finish line with a half-second advantage. Grant Junghans, Jeremy Payne, and Jason Hughes rounded out the top five finishers.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday night, as a stout field of forty-five Open Wheel Modifieds registered to chase the $4,000 top prize. Heat race action saw Rodney only managing a fourth place finish, which forced him to run a b-main. He advanced from the third starting spot to win the b-main, locking him into the fourteenth starting spot on the feature grid. During the course of the 50 lap finale, Sanders rocketed past seventh other competitors to record a seventh place finish in the final rundown.

Full results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com

Rodney's season will travel to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) this weekend, November 6th-8th, for the 8th Annual Winter Nationals. For more information on the events please visit www.USTMS.com .
