Mark Whitener Wires North Florida Field for $5,000 Triumph

Middleburg, Florida (02/09/15) – After two years of runner-up finishes in the event Mark Whitener and Big Frog Motorsports got over the hump on Sunday night at North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Florida) by claiming the $5,000 UMP Super Late Model win.

“We’ve been so close in this event, so to finally get the win feels awesome,” said an elated Whitener in victory lane. “This race is even more special because it’s my first open motor win. As always I want to thank my team, sponsors, family, and fans. Hopefully we can win another one before Speedweeks is over.”

Mark qualified third in the field in his
#58 Dave's Towing/B&B Produce/Barry Wright/Custom Race Engine Super Late Model and went on to win his heat race from the second spot over Tim McCreadie. His performance in preliminary action positioned Mark starting on the front row for the feature. Whitener took the lead at the start of the 40 lap feature and led wire-to-wire for the $5,000 victory over Frank Heckenast Jr., Morgan Bagley, Kyle Bronson and Kyle Beard.

Eddie Carrier Jr. Opens 2015 with a $7k Payday; East Bay Next

Salt Rock, West Virginia (02/09/15) - Eddie Carrier Jr. enjoyed a strong start to his 2015 campaign on Thursday night with a $7,000 triumph in the opening round of the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway Park (Brunswick, Georgia) in the Grover Motorsports #28 Optima Batteries/Rocket/Grover Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Thursday evening the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event drew a field of thirty-three entries, and via time trials Carrier Jr. locked into the pole position for his heat race. He went on to win his heat race, earning him the third starting spot for the 30 lap feature. Carrier Jr. would lead the opening lap before Brandon Sheppard took control on the second circuit, shuffling Carrier Jr. back to third.

Eddie continued to battle at the front of the pack throughout the duration of the event and looked to be on his way to a solid runner-up performance. However, Sheppard's misfortune struck on the last lap as the right front of his nosepiece dug into the track causing him to nearly lose control of his car. As he entered turn three, Sheppard's car rode the cushion as Carrier Jr. slipped by underneath of him to take the win. Stormy Scott, Sheppard, Steve Francis and Scott Bloomquist rounded out the top five finishers.

"We worked all winter on our race program. Our last race of 2014 was the Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth. To come down here and win the first night out, it's just a tremendous honor to race against these guys; they are the best in the business!" said Carrier Jr.

On Friday night a $10,000-to-win event was held, which served as the first official point event of 2015 for LOLMDS. Unfortunately luck would not be on Eddie’s side as mechanical issued plagued the team early in the night, forcing them to a backup car. He used a provisional and was only able to manage an 18th place finish. On Saturday night in another $10,000-to-win affair his luck would be a little better as he raced to an eleventh place finish at the checkered flag.

Full results from the events are available at www.LucasDirt.com .

While the opener of the 39th Annual Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) fell victim to rain on Monday, the team will return to action on February 10th-14th with five big events. For more information, please visit www.LucasDirt.com .

Shane Clanton Wins WoO Thriller at Screven; BRP Up Next

Zebulon, Georgia (02/09/15) - Shane Clanton enjoyed a memorable outing in his Weldbank Energy #25 Capital/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model on Saturday night during the finale of the 5th Annual Winter Freeze at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia). Clanton ended a 66-race winless streak with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series in dramatic fashion with his $10,000 triumph over Steve Casebolt.

"We worked awful hard here (to get back to victory lane)," said Clanton. "It's very emotional. My wife and little baby (Gunnar) are back in the pit area, and my son Ryan and my father-in-law. It's been a long time. I'm wore out now.” He concluded by saying, “I have to say a special thanks to Weldbank Energy, Hornburg Oil, Penn Gold Well Services, VP Racing Fuels, Clements Racing Engines, Capital Race Cars, and all of my great sponsors for standing behind me."

In preliminary action, Shane posted the fastest lap of his group which earned him the pole position for his heat race. Clanton dominated heat race action, winning by more than two-seconds over his nearest competitor. The top two finishers from each heat race were sent to the redraw for the 50 lap finale where Shane was the recipient of the fourth starting spot.

Clanton rode in third for much of the main event until the race's only caution flag, on lap 41, restacked the field and allowed Clanton to mount one final charge. Shane took second from Brandon Overton on lap 48 before driving under race leader, Steve Casebolt down the backstretch on the final circuit. Clanton slid into the lead entering turn three and took the checkered flag for his 21st career WoO victory ahead of Casebolt, Overton, Billy Moyer and Casey Roberts.

Clanton finished fifth one night earlier in the WoO season opener, and on Thursday night he finished seventh in an unsanctioned $5,000-to-win at the 3/8 mile oval.

Shane is currently second in the latest WoO standings. Full results and complete standings are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

The team will be idle for a few days before returning to action at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) with a trio of events on February 13th-15th. On Friday evening a $5,000-to-win, UMP event will be contested, while Saturday and Sunday’s program will be highlighted by $10,000-to-win races.
