FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Eric Wells Scores Biggest Career Win with Woo Triumph at Duck River Hazard, Kentucky (04/30/13) – Eric Wells' World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model Series weekend tour through Tennessee may have started on a sour note in his #18 Wells Motorsports/Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model, but it concluded with a $10,000 payday, which marked the biggest of his career. The World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour took Wells Motorsports to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) on Friday night for a $10,000-to-win event at the 1/2 mile oval. Thirty-five Super Late Models registered for competition, and Eric's night began on a sour note as the team discovered a broken fuel pump, while warming the engine for hot laps. As a result as a precautionary measure the back-up car was unloaded. Despite having no laps on the car Wells registered the seventh fastest time in his group in qualifications to earn the fourth starting spot for the first heat race. He went on to finish third in his heat to lock into the eleventh starting spot for the 50 lap feature. Unfortunately Eric's bad luck would not be over as he slowed on lap 18 with mechanical issues that sidelined him to a 23rd place finish in the final rundown. After seeing Saturday night's WoO show washed away by rain at Tazewell Speedway Eric Wells made the trip to Duck River Speedway (Wheel, Tennessee) on Sunday evening for a $10,000-to-win event. By the time the final checkered flag of the evening had dropped he had claimed the biggest win of his young career! Thirty Super Late Models entered the program, and after qualifying ninth fastest Eric finished fourth in his heat race to lock into the twelfth starting spot for the 50 lap finale. During the race's early stages Wells raced in the top ten before working his way into the fourth position late in the event. It appeared that he was on his way to a fourth place finish, before disaster struck for the lead trio with just three laps remaining as leader, Josh Richards, made contact with a lap car. A melee ensued, which collected Richards, Rick Eckert, and Scott James. With the top three involved in the accident Eric inherited the lead and went on to lead the final three laps to claim the win, which came over Darrell Lanigan, Tim McCreadie, Tyler Reddick, and Tim Fuller. "We had a pretty good car from the drop of the green," said Wells, who earned a career-high paycheck of $10,800. "I don't think I had the car to win if not for the misfortune of (the top three), but sometimes you gotta have luck on your side and tonight we did. I couldn't be any happier to win a World of Outlaws race this early in our first season (as a regular)." Eric will look to use his momentum to find victory lane again on the WoO Super Late Model tour as he enters a pair of $10,000-to-win events this weekend, May 3rd-4th. On Friday night the WoO competitors invade Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) before tackling Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Georgia) on Saturday evening. For Immediate Release Rodney Sanders Increases 2013 Win Tally to Nine with Lakeside Victory Happy, Texas (04/30/13) - Rodney Sanders took part in an ultra-busy four day swing of racing action over the weekend in his #20 Swan Energy/Kimrad Transport/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified, and when the final checkered flag of the weekend had dropped his 2013 win tally was increased to nine. On Thursday evening Rodney Sanders opened a tripleheader with the USMTS Open Wheel Modifieds with a $4,000-to-win event in his home state of Texas. The action was contested at Texas Thunder Speedway (Killeen, Texas), and Sanders started the night with mechanical struggles in heat race action, which left him starting deep in a b-main. With the top six finishers advancing from b-main action to the 40 lap finale Sanders impressively advanced ten spots from his fifteenth starting spot to finish fifth, which locked him into the twenty-first starting spot for the feature. In the main event Rodney again passed ten cars on his way to an eleventh place finish. Friday night found the USMTS tour making its first ever trip to Kennedale Speedway Park (Kennedale, Texas) as another $4,000-to-win affair was contested. In heat race action Sanders didn't disappoint his home state fans with a third to first run as he earned a spot in the evening's redraw for the 40 lap feature. After receiving the fifth starting spot Sanders went on to race to a second place finish in the evening's finale behind race winner, Johnny Scott. The busy three day stretch with the USMTS competitors drew to a close on Saturday evening at Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma). Forty-two competitors converged on the speed plant in pursuit of the $4,000 prize, and Rodney would need a second place finish in b-main action to race his way into the main event. In the feature he started fifteenth on the grid for the finale before advancing ten spots to record a fifth place finish behind race winner, Johnny Scott, Zack VanderBeek, Stormy Scott, and Chris Brown. Rodney continues to lead the standings in the Allgayer Inc. Southern Region. Full results from all three events are available at www.USMTS.com . Rodney Sanders made the last minute decision to travel to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) on Sunday afternoon for an USRA Open Wheel Modified program. It would prove to be a good decision as he raced to his ninth win of the 2013 season. Twenty-four competitors took part in the program, and a fifth to second run in his heat race positioned Sanders starting the feature event in the seventh starting spot for the 20 lap finale. By the time the caution flew on lap 12 of the main event Sanders had raced his way into the second spot behind race leader, Aaron Marrant. On the ensuing restart Rodney jumped to the lead only to have Marrant go back around him. Over the final few circuits of the event the duo battled side by side with Sanders claiming the win by a bumper at the checkered flag over Marrant! Full results from the event are available at www.LakeSideSpeedway.net . As has been the case for much of the first part of 2013 Mother Nature is threatening events across the country this coming weekend, so the team is currently evaluating their options on where to race. He went on to claim the win over Johnny Whitney, Barry Doss, Mark Frazier, and Kellen Kenneda. Full results are available at www.MolerRacewayPark.com . Saturday night took the team to Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) for another UMP Super Late Model event. This is a race that our friends and family can easily drive to and that doesn’t happen very often with our extended race schedule.” Saldana is the son of Lil’ Joe Saldana, a former successful driver on the United States Auto Club (USAC) and CART Championship Car series. The second-generation driver, known as the Brownsburg Bullet, is looking for his first win of the season with new car owner Dan Motter. Both driver and owner are no strangers to victory circle. Saldana has 83 career victories to his credit and Motter After a 15-year hiatus from the sport, Dan Motter returned as a team owner this season fielding a team of seasoned crew members with first-rate equipment and a driver in Saldana that Motter feels is very capable of winning a championship. The team has come oh-so-close to a victory, finishing second two times. The Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M set two quick times, two track records and has finished in the top five four times in 17 races. Currently third in World of Outlaws point standings, the team has proven they are up to the challenge. With a whirlwind 90-race schedule, there is still a lot of dirt left to fly, but “We really want to bring home an Eldora victory for Dan,” said Saldana. “We’ve both had success at Eldora so let’s just hope we can keep the mojo going.” # # #
