Wendell Wallace Captures First Win of 2008 at North Alabama!
(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Wendell Wallace and the GRT House Car team reached victory lane for the first time in 2008 last Friday night, April 11 at the North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama! Wendell was strong in qualifying and battled fellow GRT driver Jack Sullivan for the point early in the $2,500 to win feature event. After passing Sullivan for the lead, the Batesville, Arkansas native held the top spot for the remainder of the race to earn the $2,500 top prize ahead of Terry English, Chris Ragan, Anthony Burroughs, and Kyle Beard.
The action then turned to the Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on Saturday evening, April 12, as the "Baddest Bullring in the South" played host to the annual $5,000 to win 'James King Memorial.' Wendell, who is a former winner of the race, transferred into the 64-lap feature event through his A-Qualifier and later had a great run in the A-Main. After pitting for a different tire compound on lap 17, the "Batesville Bullet" charged back through the field from the tail to earn a solid runner-up finish behind winner Chris Wall. You can view complete results from the doubleheader weekend online at www.northalabamaspeedway.com and www.columbusspeedway.net!
“The team really needed a strong weekend like that,” quoted Wallace via telephone today. “We got that first win under our belt and hopefully that is the first of many more to come this season. I feel like we are getting closer to hitting on all cylinders and as soon as we get this new car built, we will be ready to hit the road and travel a little more. I have to thank Little Man for all of his hard work, as well as Joe Garrison and all of our great sponsors that support the GRT House Car program.”
The Wendell Wallace Autosports team, weather pending, will enter two more Dirt Late Model events this upcoming weekend in Illinois and Missouri. The Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois will play host to a $3,000 O’Reilly MARS DIRTcar Series show on Friday night, April 18. The Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri will then do the same on Saturday evening, April 19. (CAVE CITY, ARKANSAS) Jeff Taylor, behind the wheel of Rick Lovelady's Open Wheel Modified, was in action at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma from April 10-12. The Cave City, Arkansas native transferred into the $5,000 to win A-Main via a third place performance in Saturday's qualifier. After starting from the outside of the third row in the $5,000 to win Open Wheel Modified feature event, Jeff was running eighth before retiring from the race in the twenty-fourth position. You can view complete results from the Outlaw (OK) Motor Speedway online at www.outlawmotorspeedway.com!
“We tried a lot of new things on that new car that I raced over the weekend in Oklahoma,” commented Taylor this week. “A lot of those things didn’t work, but now we know that and we can make adjustments the other way. During the feature, I was running along there in eighth, but with the payout the way it was, it was just better for me to pull in and save wear and tear on the equipment.”
The driver known as “Animal” will head west to New Mexico this coming weekend, April 18-19, to deliver a couple of new Larry Shaw by Taylor Motorsports Open Wheel Modifieds. There is a chance that he may race during his short stint in New Mexico, but those plans are currently up in the air. Larry Blankenship Reaches Victory Lane in Twin 25 at 311!
(MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA) The B&B Motorsports team reached victory lane for the first time in the young 2008 racing season on Saturday night, April 12 at the 311 Speedway in Madison, North Carolina! Larry Blankenship set fast time in qualifying prior to the Twin 25s to earn the pole position for the first 25-lap affair. The Mooresville, North Carolina native was very strong during the course of the first feature event, as he led all 25 circuits to record the $2,500 top prize!
In the second Twin 25, the top seven cars were inverted, which meant that Larry would roll off from the inside of the fourth row. After only three laps, Larry pitted for a new left rear tire and returned to the speedplant at the tail end of the field. He then charged from the back of the pack up to the fifth spot, which is where he ultimately finished.
Daniel Baggerly was also in action on Saturday evening at 311. The young Dirt Late Model chauffeur got a ton of experience racing against some of the veterans at the historic North Carolina venue. He finished eleventh in both $2,500 to win events, but spent time inside of the top ten during both races. You can view complete results from 311 online at www.new311speedway.com!
“I am really happy with this new Barry Wright racecar,” quoted Blankenship earlier in the week. “The car has been pretty consistent all year long and we keep tuning and making adjustments to make it even better. It feels great to get back into victory lane again and hopefully there are a lot more wins to come for the B&B Motorsports team in 2008!”
Both Larry and Daniel will be taking the upcoming weekend, April 18-19, off from Dirt Late Model competition. Daniel, who suffered a serious arm injury during an unfortunate track practice incident earlier this week at school, will be out of racing action for 2-4 weeks. Larry will jump back behind the wheel of his #32 Barry Wright racecar over the April 25-26 weekend, but the races he will attend are currently up in the air. Keep up-to-date on the latest schedule plans concerning the B&B Motorsports team online at www.b-n-bmotorsports.com.

1.
"We had a great run at I-80 last August and hopefully we
can be better this year." Stated Dover. "I enjoy racing at
I-80 and I'm looking forward to Friday night and hope the
