Best of the Best ready for 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree Sept. 19-21

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- In just nine days, race fans will make their annual pilgrimage to Spring Valley, Minn., to witness the nation's Best of the Best take on the Deer Creek Speedway for the 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree-the undisputed marquee event for America's most talented open-wheel dirt modified drivers.

Set for Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 19-21, nearly $200,000 in prize money will be up for grabs in this year's blockbuster event, with as much as $15,000 or more possible to win over the course of three nights for the USMTS Modifieds.

The Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight each day, racing for a top prize of $500, $600 and $750, respectively. Fans will witness a complete show all three days with 150 to 200 top-flight teams turning more than 300 laps each night.

And while each combatant will be squarely focused on garnering his or her share of the loot, three drivers will have one eye on claiming the title of USMTS National Champion.

For the sixth straight year, the Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup will be decided at the Featherlite Fall Jamboree with a $15,000 payday awaiting the 2013 series titlist.

After 17 of 18 'Hunt' races, Johnny Scott of Las Cruces, N.M., sits atop the standings with Jason Hughes of Watts, Okla., just seven markers back and Happy, Texas, hotshoe Rodney Sanders a mere one point behind Hughes.

While Scott and Sanders will be gunning for their first USMTS National Championship, Hughes is looking to claim his second crown since winning his first in 2010. Thursday night's main event will be the final points race of the 2013 campaign.

Although eliminated from contention for the title, the rest of the "Hunters" also have some unfinished business as they look to solidify their positions among the elite in the final rankings.

Stormy Scott is fourth and just 33 points ahead of Jeremy Payne (1326 to 1293). Sixth through tenth are Zack VanderBeek (1209), Kelly Shryock (1152), Ryan Gustin (1145), Lucas Schott (1112) and Dereck Ramirez (1103).

Early bird race fans can get a free preview of the action and drivers will get their chance to make final adjustments to their machines with an open practice from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Thursday's USMTS Modified main event carries a $3,000 top prize and pays a minimum of $450 to each of the 30 starters. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:30 p.m. The night will wind down with entertainment from Dueling Pianos following the races.

On Friday, the USMTS Modified feature will pay $4,000 to the winner and $550 for each of the 30 starters. Gates open for the fans at 4 p.m. and the first green flag waves at 6:30 p.m. The day will kick off with the annual golf tournament in the morning. Fans, drivers, crews and families will put a lid on Friday's festivities with the return of The Dweebs performing live on stage following the races.

The annual Bean Bag Tournament begins earlier in the day on Saturday. Saturday's explosive finale will feature the hottest dirt modified pilots in the nation battling for one of 30 spots in the USMTS Modified main event that will take the green flag three cars wide and ten rows deep. Drivers will battle for a $6,000 top prize and at least $900 just to take the green flag.

And if that isn't enough, drivers failing to make Saturday's finale will have a chance at one of 30 spots in the annual Non-Qualifiers Race which carries a $2,000 top prize and pays $400 to start ... that's more than most modified races pay to win their main event.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, breakfast will be served by the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8-11 a.m.

Featherlite Fall Jamboree golf scramble features great prizes, open to everybody

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- The 15th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree-the undisputed marquee event for America's most talented open-wheel dirt modified drivers-takes place at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., Sept. 19-22.

While the racing is serious business, fun and games (and possibly some serious cash) are in store for golfers again this year at the annual Fall Jamboree Golf Scramble where participants will find themselves chasing birdies at one of the most scenic golf courses in Southern Minnesota.

Located just minutes from the racetrack, the Oak Summit Golf Course in Rochester will host this year's Fall Jamboree Golf Scramble on Friday, Sept. 20.

Several great items will be given away, including drivers, clubs, putters, balls, hats, shirts and shoes. A meal will be served at the turn in the club house. Dozens of flag prizes and post-tournament awards will be up for grabs. There will be cash prizes for the longest drive on two holes, longest putt on two holes and closet to the pin on two holes.

As in the past, the format for this year's outing will be a four-person best-ball contest with a Texas-style shotgun start. Entry is $100 per person and covers all cash prizes and giveaways, golfing and cart and meal.

Drivers, crewmembers, sponsors, fans and their families and friends are invited to join in the fun. The driving (golf balls) begins at 9:15 a.m. sharp on Friday.

Registration is going on now. To get entered, players must pre-pay and call the USMTS office at 515-832-7944. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.

Oak Summit Golf Course opened in 1992 when Leon DeCook decided to convert his farm land into a golf course. Nestled among rolling hills, great greens, wildlife and mature trees, the layout will challenge even the most experienced golfer.

Oak Summit Golf Course is located 1/4 mile west of the Rochester Municipal Airport. The physical address is 2751 County Highway 16, Rochester, MN 55902.

Three complete shows are on tap at the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval for this year's Featherlite Fall Jamboree. The annual event will also feature USMTS Modifieds and USRA B-Mods in action all three nights with a combined total purse of nearly $200,000.

The Deer Creek Speedway is located off of I-90 at Exit 209, then 11.3 miles south on US 63 (0.7 mile north of SR 16). Fan may purchase tickets online at www.deercreekspeedway.com or by calling toll-free 877-DCS-RACE. For track or campground info, call 507-346-2342 or email info@deercreekspeedway.com.
