USMTS set to embark on four-race Memorial Day Weekend swing

DENISON, Iowa (May 19)--With all of the honor and thanks to the men and women who make it possible, race fans are fired up for a Memorial Day Weekend to remember as the USMTS hits four tracks in four days.

The series rolls into action this Thursday, May 21, as Malvern Trust & Savings Bank presents the USMTS Casey's Cup Series powered by S&S Fishing & Rental at the Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa.

Thursday's $3,000-to-win show will also find the Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods sharing the spotlight.

The pits will open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates swinging open one hour later. Hot laps start at 6:45 and the first heat race takes the green flag at 7:15.

Adult grandstand tickets are $18, kids ages 6-12 are just $5 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

Three more big shows cap off the annual Memorial Day Weekend swing, beginning with the 8th Annual Guttormson Memorial on Friday, May 22, at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn.

In 16 previous visits to the Chateau Raceway, only three drivers have multiple wins.

Multi-time track champ Brandon Davis has three, including the most recent event during Memorial Day Weekend last year.

Tommy Myer and Jon Tesch both have two wins while single victories are in the back pockets of Joey Jensen, Mike Sorensen, Ryan Gustin, Doug Hillson, Jason Hughes, Tim Donlinger, Jason Krohn, Kelly Shryock and Mike Chasteen.

Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30 and hot laps begin at 6:30 with racing to follow.

USRA B-Mods, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks will round Friday's card at the always-exciting semi-banked 1/3-mile gumbo clay oval.

On Saturday, the fast fun moves to the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the 13th Annual Minnesota Spring Challenge presented by A&A Electrical & Underground.

A full night of racing is on tap with the Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods in action, along with Super Stocks and Street Stocks joining the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series.

Pits open at 2 p.m., grandstands open at 4, hot laps begin at 5:30 and the green flag waves at 6 p.m. Fans are invited to come out early and enjoy Slingshot action on the Button Buck Speedway beginning at 3 p.m.

Adult grandstand tickets for the event are $18 and kids ages 12 and under are $5. Pit passes are $30.

Then on Sunday, May 24, the 13th Annual Stars & Stripes Shootout takes place at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa.

Presented by Weis Buick GMC, Sunday's blockbuster event will also feature the Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods plus USRA Hobby Stocks.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $35.

The Upper Iowa Speedway is a semi-banked quarter-mile dirt oval located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E. All four events will pay $3,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. Thursday's show at the Crawford County Speedway will award points in the MSD Central Region and the remaining three nights will be in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports.

LICENSES: There is no requirement to purchase a USMTS license to compete in any USMTS event. However, benefits enjoyed by licensed drivers includes higher event purses and bonus payouts, increased tow money, discounted entry fees, points fund eligibility, increased media recognition, a personalized driver profile page on the USMTS website and more.

ENTRY FEES: Early entry is $100 for licensed drivers or $110 for non-licensed drivers. Early entries must be received prior to the race date to receive early entry price. Entry fee is $125 for all drivers on race day.

PROVISIONALS: Two (2) provisionals will be awarded at each event to the drivers ranked highest in points that fail to qualify for the "A" Main. Driver must have perfect attendance in the region to be eligible. Event promoter reserves the right to add additional provisionals.

TOP DOG BONUS: Drivers ranked among the top 10 in region points are guaranteed a minimum of $400 against winnings. Driver must have perfect attendance in the region to be eligible.
