King of America III postponed to March 28-30

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (March 19) – The King of America III Modified Nationals slated for this weekend has been postponed one week to Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 28-30. All other details (times, prices, etc.) remain the same.

A dire forecast guaranteeing precipitation and bone-chilling cold temperatures brought about the one-week layover, and USMTS officials also had to shuffle a couple of other dates in order to accommodate what would have been two USMTS Casey’s Cup Series events next weekend.

“You hate to postpone a show based on the forecast, but this weekend looks so miserable that nobody would have enjoyed being outdoors – and this event is first and foremost about having a good time,” said USMTS President Todd Staley.

The King of America III will culminate on Saturday, March 30, with a 100-lap, $10,000-to-win, $1,000-to-start main event. 2012 USMTS Rookie of the Year Stormy Scott is the defending champion of the event. Nine-time USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock won the inaugural race in 2011.

In addition to dual qualifying races on Thursday and Friday, there will be two special events each night. On Thursday, the top 12 in passing points from 12 different states will have the opportunity to compete in a 12-lap Race of States. Friday night will feature the USRA Race of Champions which is open to all USRA Modified track champions from the 2012 season and past USRA Modified national champions. The weekend culminates on Saturday with the $10,000-to-win, 100-lap championship race.

To top it off, the Iron Man Challenge for USRA B-Mods will join the party with a complete program of heat races and feature events all three nights. USRA B-Mod drivers will be racing for $500 to win Thursday with a whopping $2,000 top prize posted for Friday and $1,000 to the winner on Saturday.

There will be an open practice for all drivers on Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. This will be the only night for hot laps for the USMTS Modifieds. Admission to the grandstands for the test-n-tune session is free. Pit passes are $20.

On Thursday and Friday, pit gates will open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5, the drivers meeting is at 6:15, hot laps for USRA B-Mods is at 6:45 and the first heat race gets the green flag at 7 p.m. All times are one hour earlier on Saturday.

Three-day reserved seat tickets are on sale now for just $50 for adults, $30 for youth ages 13-16 and $15 for kids ages 6-12. Single-day tickets for grown-ups are $20 on Thursday and Friday, $25 on Saturday. Youth get in for $10 each day and kids are just $5. Children ages 5 & under get in for free every day. Call 515-832-7944 to order your tickets today.

The entry fee for drivers is $250 if received by the end of practice (approx. 9 p.m.) on Wednesday, March 27. The entry fee is $300 on race day. Drivers can download an entry form at www.usmts.com/downloads or call 515-832-7944 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central.

VP Racing Fuels initiates USMTS contingency program

MANHATTAN, Kan. (March 20) – Officials from the United States Modified Touring Series announced today that VP Racing Fuels, Inc., together with VP-Heartland , its Manhattan, Kan.-based distributor – have signed on as supporters of USMTS competitors through a contingency program in 2013.

“We're very pleased to offer a contingency program in support of the U.S. Modified Touring Series,” said Steve Scheidker, VP Racing Fuel’s Director of Marketing. “USMTS is one of the fastest-growing series in the country with talented drivers and exciting races – a great platform for our brand.”

“While the USMTS points leaders and champions have consistently been fueled by VP over the years, this sponsorship will help introduce the VP brand to many more drivers in the dirt modified market – a segment that’s very important to us.”

As part of VP’s program for the USMTS Casey’s Cup Series, the highest finishing driver fueled by VP will be awarded either a discount certificate or a 5-gallon VP Motorsport Container™ at each event during the 2013 campaign.

Furthermore, the top 3 finishers in the final points standings will each earn a 54-gallon drum of fuel from the World Leader in Race Fuel Technology™.

To be eligible, drivers must display the official VP Racing Fuels decal and provide proof of fuel purchase.

Founded in 1975, VP Racing Fuels has grown from a single location with two employees to approximately 80 employees located at four company owned and operated race fuel distribution points in Texas, Indiana, Georgia and Delaware, as well as a regional sales office in southern California. These locations support a network of 1500+ dealers and distributors worldwide.

VP is now recognized by many as the world leader in race fuel technology, with a catalog of more than 70 fuel blends and a growing roster of VP-fueled champions across the entire spectrum of motorsports. As if that wasn’t enough, VP has introduced more fuels this year that set new standards for performance in powersports, off-season storage and other applications … and you can expect the technological advancements from VP's lab to keep on coming.

For more information about VP Racing Fuels or to order fuel, contact VP-Heartland at 785-539-2700 or the nearest VP Regional Distribution Center, each of which is listed online at www.vpracingfuels.com/vp-racing-dealers.html.
