Viking Speedway added to USMTS slate June 11

ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-Officials from the United States Modified Touring Series announced today that the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minn., will host the fire-breathing modifieds of the USMTS for the first time ever on Thursday, June 11.

The event, positioned one day prior to the 17th Annual Masters race at the Cedar Lake Speedway, will be part of the USMTS Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Northern Region presented by Day Motor Sports, and will feature a $3,000 top prize for the main event winner.

"We're really looking forward to bringing the USMTS to Viking Speedway this summer," said USMTS President Todd Staley. "A lot of USMTS regulars have raced there in some of their big events, and several of them have commented on the quality of the facility. It should be a great show."

The Viking Speedway is celebrating 50 years of operation in 2015, and there is no better way help celebrate a half-century of racing than bringing in the largest dirt modified touring series. It's been over 20 years since a touring series this large has competed at the semi-banked half-mile clay oval.

The track's grandstands hold close to 2,300 fans with several VIP suites too. For traveling fans, camping is available with water and a dumping station on site.

The pit gate will open at 4 p.m., spectator gates open at 5 and racing begins at 7 on Thursday, June 11.

Tickets: Adult tickets are $20, kids ages 6-15 are $10 and children ages 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes will be $35. Advance tickets to the inaugural event will be available Saturday, June 6, at the Viking Speedway, as well as Elden's Food Fair and NAPA Auto Parts.

Directions: From I-94, take exit 100, and then at the stop sign at the top of the ramp go straight onto CR 45 and continue until you get to the T at the next stop sign (this is the intersection at CR 45 and 82). Turn right on CR 82 and head east toward Alexandria. Before reaching the next stop light, take a right to enter the Douglas County Fair Grounds.

The USMTS Casey's Cup Series powered by S&S Fishing & Rental kicks off the 2015 campaign at the South Texas Speedway in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Thursday, Feb. 12, with a three-night affair to open the MVT Gulf Coast Border Region.
