Crawley claims Ellis Palasini Classic prelim win at Greenville Speedway

Greenville, MS - July 26, 2013 – Defending United Sprint Car Series National Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas chased early race leader, Lee Sowell from Lake Cormorant, Mississippi stage for eleven laps of the twenty lap contest before charging by in lapped traffic to reach the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane in the preliminary main event of the Ellis Palasini Black Widow Classic on Friday night. It was Crawley’s sixth series win of the 2013 season in the Ward Racing #88.

Sowell followed Crawley home in second place, his best USCS series finish during the 2013 season. The 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee crossed the finish line behind the high flying duo in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. The 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who was the only female sprint car driver in the field, finished in fourth place and the series National point’s leader, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas rounded out the top five finishers.

Ten-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray also from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place, followed by young gun Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi who started thirteenth in seventh place. Shane Morgan from Biloxi, Mississippi finished in eighth place followed by Tony Agin from Ft. Myers, Florida in ninth. Curt Terrell from Bartlett, Tennessee completed the top ten drivers.

Tim Crawley kicked of his sweep of the evening’s winged sprint car events by winning the Hoosier Speed Dash. He then raced to victory in the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Morgan Turpen then won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Casey Rwland garnered the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger” Award after advancing the most positions in the A-Main.

Hagar charges to Ellis Palasini Black Widow Classic finale win at Greenville Speedway                   

Greenville, MS - July 27, 2013 – United Sprint Car Series National points leader Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas charged from his third place starting position past ten-time series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee into the lead on lap two of the thirty-lap finale of the Ellis Palasini Black Widow Classic. Hagar then held off fifth starting defending series National Champion Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas all the way to the www.rockauto.com victory lane on Saturday night for his eight win of the season in the series.

Crawley who won the twenty-lap preliminary contest on Friday night, came home in second place. The 2008 USCS Rookie of the Year Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee crossed the finish line behind the high flying duo in the K&N Filters Podium Award third placeIt was Nicholson second award in the two night’s of competition at the racy ¼ mile Gumbo oval. Casey Rowland who earlier won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat race, finished in fourth place and Michael Miller from Ocean Spring’s Mississippi charged from a ninth place start to round out the top five finishers.
