FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HAGAR TAKES SEVENTH USCS 2016 WIN IN CAUTION FREE RACE AT TALLADEGA EASTABOGA, AL - October 8, 2016 – Derek Hagar of Marion, AR took his seventh win of the 2016 20th Anniversary United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented by K&N Filters on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. Hagar battled side-by-side with Marshall Skinner of Marion, AR early in the caution-free 30 lap race, but he took the lead for good on lap six, and drove to the checkered flag unchallenged. “We almost didn’t have enough gear in the car, as it was bogging down a little bit in the middle of the corners while I was racing Skinner for the lead,” Hagar said. “But once I got out front, I could search around and find the rubber. We were good in clean air and put 30 solid laps together to get the win.” Skinner finished second and the defending USCS National Champion Morgan Turpen of Cordova, TN took the third spot. USCS National point leader and 11-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN was fourth, and fifth-place went to Jeff Willingham of Ripley, MS. Hager stayed right with Skinner in the opening laps and raced the veteran side-by-side for the first three laps of the race. On lap four, Hagar just edged Skinner at the line to lead that lap, and on lap five, it was Skinner on the outside with the momentum off turn four to lead that tour by a half car-length. Hagar took the lead for good on lap six, and began to open up a lead on Skinner. The only thing that could slow Hagar down was lapped traffic, but it wasn’t enough for Skinner to make a challenge for the lead.
