USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars headline Tennessee National Raceway’s “Tennessee Fall Nationals” racing action on Saturday (September 13th )

September 8, 2014 - The Middle Tennessee 2014 racing season gets a shot of high speed adrenaline this weekend when the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged outlaw sprint cars invade Tennessee National Raceway (formerly Hohenwald Motorsports) in Hohenwald, Tennessee on Saturday, September 13th at 7:00 pm during the 2nd annual Tennessee Fall Nationals weekend of speed. Two divisions of winged USCS sanctioned sprint cars headline an action-packed night of racing with a high speed USCS double-header at the 1/3 mile red clay oval located just off US Highway 412 and two miles west of Hohenwald, Tennessee. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged Outlaw style sprint cars and the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints are both in action on Saturday night. Both series will add plenty of speed and power to the Saturday night event.

When the 700 horsepower, 1300 pound United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars invade the speedway they are expected to step the racing tempo up with speeds near 120 miles per hour around the high-banked 1/3 mile clay oval. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged outlaw type sprint car drivers will contest a complete program of winged sprint car racing including, a dash for the top six cars from the previous event, qualifying heat races and main events. The evenings sprint car finale is a 30-lap main event paying $2000 to the winner of the A-main event.

Drivers from at least five states are expected for the series 31st event of the season. Expected entries include the event’s defending Champion, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee. Nicholson is a four time 2014 feature winner. The 10-time United Sprint Car Series National Champion and current National point’s leader, Terry Gray also from Bartlett, Tennessee is entered. Also entered as is Gray’s female team-mate and sprint car hot-shoe Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who is currently in the runner-up spot in the National standings. Additionally entered is 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi.

Other expected entries include, March 15, 2014 United Sprint Car Series Tennessee National Raceway feature winner, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas who has won eight times in USCS 2014 competition. Hagar was the 2013 USCS National Champion. Also expected is 2012 USCS National sprint car Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who is a five time winner during the current season.

The www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series mini sprint racers are the event’s second quickest division set to compete at the speedway on Saturday night. Their only 800 pound winged race cars will reach speeds near 100 miles per hour as well. Drivers from four states are pre-entered for their portion of the event. Entries include two-time series Champion, Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi and 2013 and defending USCS 600 Sprint National Champion Sean Hosey from Clarksville, Tennessee. Hosey leads the current USCS 600 Sprint Car Series point standings. Also entered are 2013 USCS Rookie of the Year, Brandon Taylor from Cumming Georgia who is only fourteen years old and current USCS 600 Rookie of the Year point’s leader bo Barber from Clarksville, Tennessee who is also ranked in second place in the USCS 600 point standings.   

The two winged USCS racing series are joined on the busy racing card by the Tennessee National Raceway Limited Late Model, E-MODS, Modified Street, Street Stock and Mini stock divisions who are all also competing for their share of the approximately $20,000 in prize money.
