FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tim Crawley charges to first 2015 USCS win at Magnolia Motor Speedway on “Fast Friday”

COLUMBUS, Miss. - May 29, 2015 - After rainouts claimed much of the opening portion of the 2015 United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters racing schedule, Benton, Arkansas sprint car veteran racer Tim Crawley proved once again that he is a force to be reckoned with in a winged sprint car. After starting third in the USCS “Fast Friday” presented by Carl Hogan Toyota 30-lap main event, the former National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 sprint car “Driver of the Year” charged past fellow Arkansas native Derek Hagar on lap seven, then raced his way into the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane at Magnolia Motor Speedway for the first time during the 2015 season. It was Crawley’s 72nd USCS win during his impressive career with the series.

Hagar, who started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, in the A-main, chased Crawley for the next fifteen or so laps before battling back into contention in heavy lapped traffic in the final eight to ten laps. He even passed Crawley back once in the middle of lap twenty-eight before yielding the point and the victory to the 2012 USCS National Champion (Crawley) and settling for the runner-up spot after winning the opening USCS Sprint Speedweek round at Jackson Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 23.

The event was also the Round Four of the 10th anniversary USCS Sprint Speedweek. Both Round Two at Greenville Speedway and Round Three at the Talladega Short Track were rained out.

Bartlett, Tennessee racer Anthony Nicholson rounded out the podium in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place, followed by fellow Bartlett native and 11-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray in fourth place. Gray's team-mate Morgan Turpen, from Cordova, Tenn., rounded out the front five.

1999 USCS champion Marshall Skinner from Marion, Arkansas  led the next group of drivers with a sixth place result, chased to the line by Tuscaloosa, Alabama's Lee Moore in seventh. 15-year-old young gun Taylor Tidmore, out of Hernando, Mississippi  brought Gary Bell’s 32B home in eighth place and another Hernando driver, Jerod Roller, raced to a ninth place finish. Another Bartlett, Tennessee driver, and the 2013 USCS “Rookie of the Year’, Curt Terrell, rounded out the top ten.

The leading USCS Rookie of the Year contender Nick Snyder, from Marco Island, Florida was running fourth in the feature when he lost a motor on lap 12 to bring out the first yellow flag of the night. The failure forced the young gun pit side and out of the event; Snyder was credited with 20th at the checkered flag. The only other caution of the race flew on lap 16 when Buster Dickerson spun his No. 86 machine to slow the pace for the final time.

Derek Hagar kicked off the night's racing action by taking the win in the six-lap Hoosier Speed Dash. Nicholas Snyder rolled to the win in the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat, and Crawley claimed the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Hagar stole the preliminary portion of the show to take the checkers in the Schoenfeld Headers Third Heat; He also claimed the K&N Filters Pole Award after a zero was rolled by Snyder on the K&N Pole Award Inversion Die.
