Magnolia's USCS “Fast Friday” presented by Carl Hogan Toyota is a literal Smorgasbord of Speed on FRIDAY, May 29th 11 time USCS National Sprint Car Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee and 20 year-old young-gun Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina are tied for the lead in the series National point standings event after the first six events coming into this weekend’s three USCS Sprint Speedweek events at Talladega Short Track on Thursday, Magnolia Motor Speedway on Friday and at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday.. Morgan Turpen who is the Nation’s top-ranked female sprint car driver is in third place in the National standings just 38 points behind Gray and Riggins after finishing in the runner-up spot in 2014. Riggins has three wins in the series first six events. Gray has not yet added to his 89 USCS feature win total, in 2014, but, his finishes have been good enough to keep him at the top of the standings. Sixteen Year-old Marco Island Rookie of the Year contender, Nicholas Snyder is in fourth place in the standings and scored a career-first win at Travelers Rest Speedway on May 8th. Past USCS regional series Champion, Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina rounds out the top five drivers in the National standings. USCS winged sprint car drivers from seven or more states are expected for Friday’s USCS event. The race awards USCS National, Mid South Thunder Tour and Southern Thunder Tour championship points. The USCS Sprint Speedweek 2015 Round One event on Saturday night May 23rd at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, Mississippi was won by 2013 USCS National Champion Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas. Hagar is a multi-time past USCS winner at “The MAG”. Hagar defeated a stellar 33 car field from 11 state in Round Ones. Hagar who recorded his 30th career USCS win at Jackson Motor Speedway is entered for Friday’s event. Also entered is multi-time Magnolia Motor Speedway USCS feature winner and 2012 USCS National Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas. Crawley has 71 USCS feature wins on his resume. The USCS Sprint Speedweek Round Two event at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi on Sunday night was rained out at 5:30 pm. The second USCS racing division on the action-packed racing card is the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. Drivers for that division are expected from four states for Friday’s event. Local favorites , Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi, who was the 2011 and 2012 National Champion in the division and team-mate Curt Schumacher top the entry list for the USCS 600 sprints. In Addition to the two USCS open wheel classes, all four of the speedway’s weekly racing divisions are on the racing card. Those include the popular 800 horsepower, ground pounding Super Late Models plus the Nesmith Dirt Late Model, Nesmith Street Stock and new Factory Stock divisions . All four are scheduled for a full racing program in each division during the USCS “Fast Friday” presented by Carl Hogan Toyota night of racing. |
