the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars invade Tennessee National Raceway for their Mid South Region season opener (on Saturday, April 25th )

April 23, 2015 – In two days….the always popular United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters headlines  a high speed evening of thrills and excitement during the inaugural  USCS “Spring Speed Xplosion” when winged sprint car the series invades the 1/4 mile high-banked red clay oval at Tennessee National Raceway (formerly Hohenwald Motorsports) in Hohenwald, Tennessee. The event serves as the Mid South regional series season opener for the USCS winged sprint car division. The event will award both USCS Mid South regional series and USCS National Championship points. Drivers from at least six states are expected for the series 4th event of the series 19th season.

Middle Tennessee race fans are in store for a full night of racing action that brings the fastest and most powerful race cars to attack the speedway’s racing surface during the  each season. The event is the one and only scheduled appearance during the 2015 season for the USCS sprint cars at Tennessee National Raceway,

When the 700 horsepower, 1300 pound United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars,  hit the track, they are expected to step the racing tempo up with speeds near 120 miles per hour around the high-banked 1/4 mile clay oval. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint car drivers will contest a complete program of winged sprint car racing including, test and tune hot laps followed by the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash for the top six cars from the previous event, qualifying heat races and main events. The evenings sprint car finale is a 30-lap main event paying $2000 to the winner.

Expected entries include the 2014 and 11-time National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. The 2014 USCS National Championship runner-up, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee.. Turpen is Gray’s team-mate and the top ranked female race car driver in the Nation.

Also entered is the 2013 USCS National Champion, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas who was the March 15, 2014 USCS sprint car feature winner at Tennessee National Raceway. Hagar has won 18 USCS main events over the past two seasons and is a threat to win on any given night.

The 2012 USCS National sprint car Champion, and 2010 USCS Tennessee National Raceway feature winner, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas is expected to enter. Eddie Gallagher from Olive Branch, Mississippi is another past USCS National Champion and multi-time USCS winner at the speedway that is an entry for this season’s event, All three of these drivers were ranked among the top 32 drivers in the Nation in the 2014 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 “Driver of the Year” rankings.

Other expected entries include two-time USCS Tennessee National Raceway sprint car feature winner, Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett, Tennessee who was a six-time 2014 USCS series winner.

The USCS winged sprint cars are joined on a busy racing card by six popular Tennessee National Raceway divisions. The track’s mini Stock division that will be contesting their Round #1 Summer Shootout Series event and battling for a double normal purse $700 to win and $60 to the last place finisher in their main event.

The Tennessee National Raceway Limited Late Models will also be on the racing card. The Limited Late Model division include cars from a wide range of rules including area Limited Late Models, 2-Barrel Late Models and GM Performance crate engine type Late Model race cars. The speedway’s popular E-MOD, Open Wheel Modified, Modified Street, Street Stock and Dwarf Car divisions will also be competing on Saturday night.

Grandstand Adult admission for the Saturday, April 25rh event is $20 for adults. Children 12 years and under in the spectator grandstands are FREE.

A discount coupon is available on the Tennessee National Raceway Facebook page and on the USCS (United Speed Contest Sanction) Facebook page as well. Coupons already printed for the postponed April 18th event will be accepeted at the gate as well.

Pit area admission is $30 for Adults and Children 6-12 years old pricing is $10. Children 5 and Under are FREE in the pit area.
