USCS vs. URC North vs. South “Spring Speed Xplosion” winged sprint car racing headlines Carolinas double-header on April 11th and 12th 

April 4, 2014 - After a couple weeks of inactivity due to in-climate weather, the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters 18th annual Outlaw Thunder “Disturbing the Peace” Tour 2014 schedule re-boots next week with the co-sanctioned USCS vs. URC North South “Spring Speed Xplosion” double-header at two speedways in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area less than one hour apart. On Friday, April 11th, the two Nationaly prominent winged sprint car series visit the familiar confines of the Carolina Speedway 3/8 mile clay oval in Gastonia, North Carolina. On Saturday, April 12th, the USCS and URC sprint car drivers then headline racing action at the historic 1/2 mile Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, South Carolina. The USCS series is joined on the racing card both nights by the Delaware based URC series in this co-sanctioned USCS vs. URC event that has potential to be a repeat of last Falls’ classic USCS vs. URC North vs. South Shootout held at Carolina Speedway and Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina.

The two night weekend also kicks off the 2014 USCS presented by K&N Filters Southern Thunder Tour regional series schedule of events that includes racing on both dirt and paved ovals. Both USCS races will award National USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour national and USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series championship points. Both events pay $2000 to the winner with $4300 possible for a sweep of both nights.
Expected entries for both nights include at least four previous multi-time USCS Carolina Speedway USCS sprint car winners including 10-time National USCS National Champion Terry Gray, from Bartlett, Tennessee and former Southern Thunder regional series Champion Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina who won the USCS event at Carolina Speedway on September 28, 2012. Also entered are two one-time Carolina Speedway sprint car winners, Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina and female sprint car hot-shoe, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who both won their half of twin main events at the speedway in September of 2011.

Eighteen year-old Eric Riggins, Jr. won on both visits that the United Sprint Car Series had to Carolina Speedway in 2013, He won the first USCS sanctioned event on April 12th. He then repeated as the winner on October 4th during the USCS vs. URC North vs. South Sprint Car Shootout that was co-sanctioned by both the Georgia based USCS and the country’s oldest sprint car organization, the Delaware based URC then in its 66th year. Riggins bested a 32 car field that included some of the Nation’s best sprint car drivers.

Entries from the United Racing Company (URC) include 2012 series Champion, Robbie Stillwagon from Burlington, New Jersey and 2013 URC Championship runner-up Josh Weller from Merztown, Pennsylvania who will be in the car that won the title last season. Stillwagon also won the April 13, 2013 USCS event at Toccoa, Speedway.
   
The www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini/micro sprints join action the action on Friday night for the USCS open wheel double-header at Carolina Speedway and move over to East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina on Saturday night. Drivers from at least seven states are expected for the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series seventh and eighth events of the young racing season. The two USCS sprint car series are joined on the busy racing card by a full program of Late Model and stock car racing each night as well to create two action-packed nights of racing action.
