Rodney Sanders Unstoppable in Weekend USMTS Action

Happy, Texas (07/22/14) – Rodney Sanders entered four USMTS events and registered four wins in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified over the weekend in Kansas and Nebraska.

"Wow, what a weekend we had," said an elated Sanders on Saturday night after sweeping the Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway. "My crew has this car performing incredibly well right now. It's just up to the driver to get the job done every time we hit the track."

Rodney Sanders resumed his 2014 season with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Tuesday evening at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) in a $3,000-to-win program. A strong field of thirty-six cars filled the pit area, and a seventh to second run in heat race action earned Sanders a spot in the evenings redraw. Rodney drew the pole position for the 35 lap finale with Darron Fuqua starting alongside. In the feature Sanders assumed the point at the drop of the green flag and led every lap of the feature to claim the win. Terry Phillips settled in second followed by Bidinger, Zack VanderBeek, and Trevor Hunt. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com .

Rodney also entered the $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) program at Lakeside Speedway on Tuesday night. Thirty-one Super Late Models registered for battle, and a second place finish behind Jared Landers in heat race action positioned Rodney starting eighth on the feature grid. During the course of the 50-lapper Sanders battled amongst the top then throughout the event before settling into a tenth place finish. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com .

Less than 24 hours after winning the feature race at Lakeside Speedway, Rodney Sanders was back in Victory Lane on Wednesday night at Osage Casino Caney Valley Speedway (Caney, Kansas). Nineteen USMTS competitors registered for the $2,000-to-win program. A third place finish in the first heat race was enough to earn Rodney a spot in the redraw, and for the second straight night he drew the pole position for the main event. Sanders led all forty laps of the finale en route to his second victory in as many nights over Zack VanderBeek, Joe Duvall, John Allen, and Dylan Smith. Full results from the event are available at www.USMTS.com .

Rodney Sanders won his third straight USMTS event during the opening round of the Silver Dollar Nationals on Friday night at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska). Thirty-three entries converged on the high-banked, 1/2 mile oval, and a win in his heat race sent Sanders to the redraw for the $3,000-to-win feature event, where he received the eighth starting spot. Rodney progressively worked his way forward through the top five early in the event, and by the race's midway point he raced his way into the second spot as he set his sights on the leader, Terry Phillips. The duo battle for the top spot for the next several laps before Sanders took control just past the halfway mark. Once out front Sanders drove away from the field, and crossed the finish line first ahead of Dylan Smith, Terry Phillips, Stormy Scott, and Jason Hughes.

Rodney was far from finished with business on Saturday night as he set his sights on his sixth straight victory with the USMTS tour. Preliminary action found him starting deep in the grid for a heat race, but managed a fourth place finish to lock into the twelfth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Despite starting mid-pack Sanders had raced his way into the top five by the halfway point and would soon find himself in the second position. Sanders slowly reeled in race leader Terry Phillips, as the two once again went to battle for the top spot. The duo went door-to-door for the next ten laps before Sanders took the lead on lap 37. Rodney held on for the final three circuits to collect the $4,000 paycheck over Phillips, Zack VanderBeek, Jason Hughes, and Stormy Scott. The victory marked his 21st of the 2014 campaign. Full results from the weekend are available at www.USMTS.com

Rodney also competed with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) over the course of the weekend in the $30,000-to-win event. With fifty-four Super Late Models entered Rodney locked into the thirteenth starting spot in the 80 lap finale via heat race action on Friday night. Unfortunately a mechanical failure in Saturday's main event forced Sanders to retire to a 23rd place finish. Full results from the LOLMDS program are available at www.LucasDirt.com .
