ULTIMATE Supers Set to Continue Record Season with June 29 Dublin Speedway Debut

Dublin, North Carolina - The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will continue its record-setting third season this Saturday night, June 29th with event number 9 on the 2013 schedule. The Carnesville, Georgia based series will make its first ever trip to Dublin Motor Speedway in Dublin, North Carolina for a $4000 to win / 40-lap feature event. The red clay 4/10ths of a mile facility was constructed in the late 1970s and was originally a 5/8ths mile configuration. It was redesigned and reopened in the 2005 season with its current 4/10ths mile layout. The track affectionately known to fans and racers as “the Rattlesnake” will play host to the “Rattlesnake Rumble”. Series officials are very excited about the trip to Dublin. “Dublin is another track that we are really excited to have on our schedule as a partner. Anytime you go to a new track there is always a certain amount of excitement and anticipation. Dublin is certainly no exception. We know that they have some great racing week in and week out. And we know that promoter Richard Bailey and his staff is really working hard for the fans and racers over there. So we are really looking forward to getting over there and giving them a good show.” said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.

The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series has already set a record this season in number of events scheduled, including a first time venture into West Virginia. The series is also on pace to break the previous record of total number of entrants for the season. The record for the number of different winners in a single season could also easily be eclipsed. There were 11 different winners in 2012. So far in 2013 there have been 5 different winners and with more than 10 events remaining on the schedule, the odds are it will happen. “This has been a great year for the ULTIMATE Series. I believe that the series has really cemented itself as one of the best regional series in the country. We have been very fortunate to work with great track promoters and race teams which have enabled us to have a very successful season so far. We want to keep building on the momentum that we have. Adding the Dublin event was certainly a big part of doing that. Dublin is a great facility and in a market that we haven’t really been to until this event. So we have high expectations of bringing our show to the fans of the area. We also plan to announce a couple more dates later in the year that will further increase our reach to race fans around the southeast.” said ULTIMATE Series founder Stan Lester.

Defending ULTIMATE Series Champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia leads the point standings yet again entering the Dublin event. Roberts has been on a tear of late winning the three of the last four series events and banking more than $13,000 for his efforts. Prior to the Roberts win streak, the series had enjoyed five different winners through its first five events. Chasing Roberts for the $15,000 ULTIMATE Championship is Brett Miller of Greeneville, Tennessee. Miller is second in points and leads the Rookie of the Year standings as well. Only a few points back of Miller is 2011 ULTIMATE Series Champion Chris Ferguson. Ferguson of Mt. Holly, North Carolina has made-up a remarkable amount of ground after missing the season opener after totally destroying his only race car the night prior to the event.

Dallas, North Carolina’s Jeff Smith currently sits fourth in series points only 2 points back of Ferguson. Rounding out the top 5 is Larry Timms of Hodges, South Carolina. Timms, also a Rookie of the Year contender, was among the top 3 until an engine failure at Smoky Mountain Speedway in May cost him a DNS. Other drivers who are regulars on the ULTIMATE tour are Zack Mitchell of Enoree, South Carolina who is 6th in points; Mike Gault of Gaffney, South Carolina is currently 7th while Casey Barrow of Savannah, Georgia who enters in 8th. Along with the touring regulars of the series that are all expected to be on hand will be a bevy of top shelf regional and local contenders.

The Dublin Motor Speedway is located at 1364 Rice Pond Road which is just off of N.C. Highway 87 in Dublin, North Carolina. The pit gates are scheduled to open at 3 PM with the Grandstands opening at 5 PM. ULTIMATE Series Tech will open at 3 and the ULTIMATE Series drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 6:30 PM with hot laps and racing to immediately follow.
