ULTIMATE Supers Head to Modoc Raceway for $5022 to win Jack Starrette Memorial

Carnesville, Georgia (June 8, 2015) - The ULTIMATE Super Late Models will complete a weekend doubleheader this Saturday, June 13th when they head down to Modoc Raceway in Modoc, South Carolina for the Jack Starrette Memorial. The 50-lap event pays tribute to one of the Southeast’s most well-known and beloved dirt racing benefactors. Jack Starrette, through his Augusta, Georgia businesses Starrette Trucking and Starrette Specialized Hauling, owned and sponsored numerous dirt late models until his untimely death in 2010. Starrette sponsored many of the most successful drivers in the area including Casey Roberts, Brandon Overton, Mike Duvall, Ricky Weeks, Jeff Smith, Jack Pennington, Buckshot Miles, Chris Ferguson, Randle Chupp, Mike Head, Phillip Seifert, Jon Henderson, Ricky Elliott, Jeremy Clements and 2-time Jack Starrette Memorial winner Dennis “Rambo” Franklin among others.

Starrette was close personal friends with fellow Augusta-area business owners Jimmy and Ann Cushman who also now own Modoc Raceway. The Cushman’s have entrusted the sanctioning of this very special event to the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. “We want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Cushman for asking us to be a part of Mr. Jack’s race. We are very happy to be able to honor him with this race. Jack did so much for so many racers over his lifetime. Many of those guys will be at Modoc to race in his honor. The list of drivers that he helped is just endless. He just loved dirt racing and I hope that we can continue to help to honor him with this race. He deserves this and so much more. We are proud to be a small part of it.” said ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Director Kelley Carlton.

The last 2 years has seen Dennis “Rambo” Franklin capture the Jack Starrette Memorial win. Franklin hopes he can make it 3 in a row and shake off some early season woes. “We have had some trouble here and there and Casey (Roberts) has been real good this year. That has put us 2nd in the ULTIMATE points behind him. But we have some good notes for Modoc and that track has been real good for us. So hopefully we can get in there and make up some ground and get us another win. Jack was a good man and it means a lot to me and my crew to win that race. So we are gonna give it all we got and see where we end up.” Franklin surmised.

The 5th Annual Jack Starrette Memorial is scheduled for Saturday, June 13th at Modoc Raceway in Modoc, South Carolina. The gates will open at 4 PM. The drivers’ meeting is set for 7 PM with racing to follow. The event will also feature racing in Crate Late Models, Super Streets, Stock V-8s, Xtreme 4s and Street Stock 4s.
