$70,000 Plus Up for Grabs in ULTIMATE Mid-Atlantic Doubleheader this Weekend

Carnesville, Georgia (April 4, 2016) – The teams entering this weekend’s ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Mid-Atlantic Doubleheader will be vying for more than $70,000 in cash and prizes. The weekend opens up on Friday, April 8th at the 3/10ths of a mile Potomac Speedway located in Budds Creek, Maryland. The popular Maryland track will host the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series for the first time ever. The 50-lap event will pay a $5000 winner’s prize. On Saturday, April 9th the series moves just down the road to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia. Virginia Motor Speedway will host the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth.

Drivers and teams from all over the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region are expected to be on hand for this lucrative weekend of racing.  One such driver is Mid-Atlantic stalwart Jason Covert of York Haven, Pennsylvania. Covert has amassed an impressive racing resume after nearly 30 years behind the wheel of various types of cars. Covert has also visited the winners circle at both Potomac Speedway and Virginia Motor Speedway which will make him one of the favorites entering the weekend. “You know Virginia Motor Speedway is overall one of the nicest tracks anywhere in the country. And Potomac has one of the best racing surfaces that you will find. So I am looking forward to racing at both places and hopefully taking some of that money back with me to Pennsylvania.” Covert said in an interview.

Another driver who will be looking to get things rolling this weekend is defending ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Champion Casey Roberts. Roberts, who has won the ULTIMATE title 3-times and is the Series’ all-time wins leader is looking to rebound after a tough break at the last series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Roberts was running second and appeared poised to take the lead when driveline failure ended his night. “We are feeling pretty good about our chances (at both tracks). We have got our car really good. We were a little off at North Georgia but still got a top 5. And I believe we had a shot at winning at Smoky Mountain until the driveshaft broke. It is a good time to be running as well as we are. We are racing some big money shows here the next few weeks.” Roberts said.

Along with Covert and Roberts expect ULTIMATE Series regulars like Dennis “Rambo” Franklin of Gaffney, SC; Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; Colbert, Georgia’s Kenny Collins and Glenn Elliott of Sykesville, Maryland. There will be plenty of the mid-Atlantic region’s most prominent drivers as well including the likes of Dale Hollidge; Jamie Lathroum andStevie Long all of Mechanicsville, Maryland along with Delaware racers Ricky Elliott; Ross Robinson; Amanda Whaley and Austin Hubbard.  Northern drivers like Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pennsylvania and Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania will also be in action.

Along with the winner’s $20,000 share of the purse in Saturday night’s Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth he or she will also score a brand new LG 4K Ultra HD 49" Smart Television courtesy of event sponsor Aaron’s Inc. Aaron’s, Inc. is a leader in the sales and lease ownership and specialty retailing of residential furniture, consumer electronics, home appliances and accessories with more than 2,000 Company-operated and franchised stores in 48 states and Canada.
