Grand Forks, North Dakota (06/06/16) – Dustin Strand raced to the Modified victory on Saturday night in his RealTruck.com #71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating/Millenium Race Car at Greenbush Race Park. The third triumph of the year for Strand had a little, extra-special meaning.

“Not only did I win, but dad jumped in my backup car and finished 2nd,” Dustin noted with a big smile. “It’s been a while since we raced together, so to get a 1-2 finish was really something special for both of us.”

On Thursday night Dustin Strand made his first trip of the season to Norman County Raceway (Ada, Minnesota) to compete in the IMCA Modified division. In a field of 21-cars, Strand gained one spot in his heat, capturing a heat race victory. Bruce Jr. Battles Handling at Knoxville during Debut with Jeff Smith

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 6, 2016) - Tony Bruce Jr. had a tough debut driving for Jeff Smith last weekend.

Friday's ASCS Warrior Region race at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Mo., rained out and the team struggled to find the right balance on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

"We had a tough time getting a balance on the car," Bruce Jr. said. "It was the first time I drove for them and Knoxville is a tricky place. We weren't that great in qualifying or the heat race."

Bruce Jr. qualified 18th quickest before he finished fourth in a heat race. That locked him into the 18th starting position for the main event.

"We passed a few cars," he said. "I felt like the car was coming to us as the laps went on and I was getting more comfortable. We lost brakes about halfway so we ended with a DNF. It was unfortunate to have something go wrong because we finally made some progress. It was one of those nights that were really tough, but we learned a lot and got better acclimated between a new team and a driver."

Bruce Jr. was credited with a 21st-place result.

He will return to action with Smith on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., and Saturday at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region.

Sides Charges to Top 10s at Fremont Speedway and I-96 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (June 6, 2016) - Jason Sides recorded a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

The weekend began on Friday at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, for the Kistler Engines Smackdown, which Sides began by qualifying 12th quickest in his group. He then advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race to lock into the 19th starting position for the main event.

"We got a couple of cars on the first two starts when people crashed," he said. "By the time the race started going we were up to 13th or 14 th. Once we got going we were on the extreme bottom. I was staying in the moisture. The car would rotate around the corner and shoot off the turns. I got to sixth or seventh and we had a long caution and it sealed the tire up. It just wouldn't get going and we lost a couple of spots at the end. A top 10 there was good from 19th."

Sides maneuvered to a 10th-place result, which was his second straight top 10 at the track.

I-96 Speedway was set to host an event on Saturday. However, rain delayed the Rumble in Michigan until Sunday evening.

Sides timed in 16th quickest during qualifying before placing fifth in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the seventh row for the 35-lap feature.

"We got going pretty good pretty quick," he said. "I was feeling really good because I like the race track and have had some good runs there before. The track got a little rough. You had to run out wide and turn down across. That was somewhat difficult and it was a little dusty to see where you needed to run into the corner up high to turn down across the track. It had some pretty serious holes so you had to really tip toe around the bottom. Then the rain came. I feel like we could have at least had a top three or four. Then again we could have hit one of those holes and flipped easily."

Sides advanced from 13th to sixth by Lap 17 when the race was considered complete because rain invaded the area.

The sixth-place result gives Sides a top six at I-96 Speedway during six of the last seven years.

He will return to World of Outlaws competition this Wednesday at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind., and Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
