FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “We had a really great car on Friday night, and it feels great to get our first win of the season,” said Strand. “I want to say a special thanks to my dad for the countless hours he puts into helping me with my program. I also want to thank all of my great sponsors including RealTruck.com, Q&Z Plumbing & Heating, and Schill Construction. Their support means so much to me and my team.” Kicking off the River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) season, Dustin Strand was one of 20 Super Late Models signed registered on Friday night for the home-opener. Improving five positions in his heat race, Strand scored a runner-up finish behind Brad Seng, which secured his spot into the main event. Starting in 4th for the finale, Dustin wheeled his way to the front by lap 9. He would lead the remainder of the event to pick up his first victory of the 2016 season with Joey Pederson, Shane Edginton, Brad Seng, and Donny Schatz trailing him to the checkers. This Friday, May 6 Dustin will return to River Cities Speedway as he looks to score back-to-back, Late Model triumphs as the 1/3-mile oval. (May 2, 2016) - Seth Bergman posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend in his home state of Washington. The action began on Friday at Deming Speedway in Everson, where Bergman competed in a micro sprint for the first time in 12 years. "We just had some fun," he said. "It was nice to get back to where it all started and reflect on everything since then. It was cool to race with some people I haven't seen in a while." After battling some issues early in the night Bergman rebounded to advance from eighth to fourth place in the B Main and from 20th to 10 th place in the main event. He returned to sprint car competition on Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway, where the claimed the 2010 track championship. "We timed in second quick and I still wasn't happy with that," he said. "I felt like we left a lot on the table. In the heat race I was in the right spot and the outside lane was where you wanted to be. I got a couple of cars and ran second." Bergman's maneuver from fourth to second place in his heat race locked him into the feature inversion, which was an eight. That lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event. "We were worse in the feature than we'd been all night," he said. "That was probably one of the worst nights of the year. The track was heavy and the race car was too tight to get around there." Bergman battled for a top five throughout the main event before he ended seventh. Next up the team will make the approximate 30-hour drive from the Northwest to the Midwest to compete on Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. It will mark Bergman's debut at the track. He is also scheduled to race on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Red River Region and ASCS Warrior Region. (May 2, 2016) - Tony Bruce Jr. will return to Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday for the first time since he won there last summer. Bruce Jr. is piloting a Danny King owned sprint car at the 3/8-mile oval in Dodge City, Kan., for the GoMuddy.com National Sprint League 360 NCRA/NSL Region event. The car is returning to its familiar No. 88, which it had prior to King's son, Steve, passing away in 2006. "That's always been Danny's number," Bruce Jr. said. "Danny had a car he'd put people in for as long as I can remember and their number was 88. I know it means a lot to him and the entire family." Not only is the number change significant, Saturday will be the first race back at Dodge City Raceway Park since Bruce Jr. claimed the Steve King Memorial last June. "We just seem to go good there," he said. "We've had really good runs at World of Outlaws races there and we've picked up a couple of wins during NCRA races there. We just always seem to be up front." The goal for this Saturday is to return to Victory Lane. "It will take doing everything right and making sure we capitalize on everything," he said. "We have to get through the heat race and set ourselves up to start in the front three rows of the A Main to have a shot to win." (May 2, 2016) - Jason Sides earned one of the biggest victories of his career last Tuesday at I-30 Speedway, where he powered to his 15th career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win at a track that is located only two hours from his hometown. "You always want to come home and run well in front of your fans, sponsors, friends and family," he said. "To get the win, I didn't expect that. I did a few donuts and stirred up a little dust in the infield. We were the last ones to leave there." The triumph gives Sides at least one World of Outlaws victory during six of the last eight seasons and it puts him only two wins out of tying for the top 20 in all-time Outlaws triumphs. The night began with Sides qualifying sixth quickest around the quarter-mile oval, which was hosting its first World of Outlaws race in more than 20 years. "When we qualified I felt pretty good," he said. "We were fourth quick for a while and then two cars got us. I watched the last few cars and I thought someone would bump us from the front row of a heat race, but we stuck there." That lined Sides up on the outside of the front row for the final heat race. He maintained the second-place position to lock himself into the dash. "They drew a six for the dash and that put us on the pole, which was good," he said. "But down on the bottom off turn four it was still so good and sticky that you almost wanted to be on the outside. It was so wet when you'd come off the corner your car would do wheelies. It was good to race, but for restarts it was too good. Brady (Bacon) got the jump on the start and he won the dash. That put us on the outside for the start of the feature." Sides took advantage of the opportunity once the green flag was waved for the main event. He quickly jumped into the lead and never looked back. "Track position was good and our car was good," he said. "Brady got beside us at one point, but they were going to have to pass me on the outside because I wasn't going to get off the bottom." Sides held onto the lead throughout the 40-lap feature to score the special victory. Last weekend's World of Outlaws races were cancelled because of the weather. Sides is slated to return to action this Wednesday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., and Friday and Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, with the World of Outlaws. After the season opener was cancelled because of weather last month, the Midwest's premier 410ci winged sprint car series will make its season debut this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for the $10,000-to-win Dirt Classic I-80. "We want to start the NSL season strong and contend for the win on Friday," Lasoski said. "Last year was a different year. It does give us confidence knowing we had a strong year and ran so well at I-80 Speedway, but this is a new year and new situation so we have to go out there and prove ourselves again." Lasoski won three 410ci winged sprint car races at I-80 Speedway last season, including a National Sprint League doubleheader in July. This weekend wraps up on Saturday with the Muddy backed team heading to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where the action was rained out last weekend. "It's great to have a couple of events on the schedule this weekend at tracks where we've run well," Lasoski said.
