Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic is next for the Smoky Mountain Speedway on Friday September 13th

MARYVILLE, TN (September 7, 2013)—Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN is set to return to action with another special event for Super Late Models as the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) visits “The Mountain” on Friday evening September 13th for the Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic, paying $3,000 to win the SRRS-sanctioned Super Late Model main event.

The Friday September 13th event at Smoky Mountain Speedway will feature the Super Late Models of the Southern Regional Racing Series in a full program of practice, group time trials, qualifying heats, and the $3,000 to win Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic 40-lap A-Main.  Joining the SRRS Super Late Model competitors at Smoky Mountain Speedway will be the track’s Crate Late Models (paying $1,000 to win), Street Stocks (paying $300 to win), and Mini Stocks (paying $200 to win).

Activities for the special Friday September 13th Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., while the general admission and tier parking areas will open at 5:00 p.m.  The driver’s meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:15 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing.  Tickets prices for the Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic on September 13th in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 will be $5, and children ages 5 and under will be free.  In tier parking, ticket prices will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 will be $10, while children ages 5 and under will be free.  For the pit area, a pit pass will be $35 for adults, while children ages 11 and under will be $15.

The entry fee for the Southern Regional Racing Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway is $100.  The tire rule for the event is as follows: Front- Open Compound; Rear- Hoosier:  Shoulder-plated LM40, 1600, Should-plated 55; American Racer- 56.  Also, all rear tires must durometer 60 or harder when checked with a track and/or series durometer.

Josh Putnam of Florence, AL is currently tied with Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN at the top of the SRRS points battle with just a few races remaining. Ryan King of Seymour, TN is third, Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN is fourth while Brad Skinner of Springhill, TN is fifth. The rest of the SRRS top ten are Mark Fields, Skylar Marlar, Scott Cook, Eric Jacobsen and Jake Knowles.

In the 2012 Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would score the race victory over Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN, and Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN.  The remainder of the top ten from the 2012 event would be Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN, Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN, Ty Dillon of Welcome, NC, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN, and Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN.

Smoky Mountain Speedway last presented racing action on Friday July 26 and feature event winners that evening Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC in Ray Cook’s Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series action, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN in Crate Late Models, Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN in Crate Late Models, and Warren McMahan of Dandridge, TN in Street Stocks.

Racing action for Smoky Mountain Speedway includes the hosting of other special events throughout the 2013 season including: Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series, Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Series, Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, American Modified Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, United Sprint Car Series, Southern Regional Racing Series and the Ultimate Late Models.
