SRRS Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic $3,000 to win at Smoky Mountain Speedway August 10

Maryville, TN-August 1, 2013—Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN is set to return to action with another special event for Super Late Models as the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) visits “The Mountain” on Saturday evening August 10 for the Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic, paying $3,000 to win the SRRS-sanctioned Super Late Model main event.

The August 10 event at Smoky Mountain Speedway will feature the Super Late Models of the Southern Regional Racing Series in a full program of practice, group time trials, qualifying heats, and the $3,000 to win Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic A-Main.  Joining the SRRS Super Late Model competitors at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Saturday August 10 will be the track’s Crate Late Models (paying $1,000 to win), Hobby Stocks (paying $300 to win), and Mini Stocks (paying $200 to win).

Activities for the August 10 Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic event will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., while the general admission and tier parking areas will open at 5:00 p.m.  The driver’s meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:20 p.m., followed immediately by time trials and green flag racing.  Tickets prices for the Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic on August 10 in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 will be $5, and children ages 5 and under will be free.  In tier parking, ticket prices will be $20 for adults, children ages 6 to 11 will be $10, while children ages 5 and under will be free.  For the pit area, a pit pass will be $35 for adults, while children ages 11 and under will be $15.

Smoky Mountain Speedway Southern Regional Racing Series Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic A-Main Payout for August 10, 2013:  1st- $3,000, 2nd- $1,500, 3rd- $900, 4th- $800, 5th- $700, 6th- $600, 7th- $575, 8th- $550, 9th- $525, 10th- $500, 11th- $400, 12th- $390, 13th- $380, 14th- $370, 15th- $360, 16th- $350, 17th- $340, 18th- $330, 19th- $320, 20th- $310, 21st- $300, 22nd- $300, 23rd- $300, 24th- $300

The entry fee for the Southern Regional Racing Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway is $100.  The tire rule for the event is as follows: Front- Open Compound; Rear- Hoosier:  Shoulder-plated LM40, 1600, Should-plated 55; American Racer- 56.  Also, all rear tires must durometer 60 or harder when checked with a track and/or series durometer.

Josh Putnam of Florence, AL currently sits atop the Southern Regional Racing Series point chase.  Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN is in second position, with Ryan King of Seymour, TN, Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN, and Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN rounding out the current top five in series points.  The remainder of the top ten in points are Mark Fields of Lawrenceburg, TN, Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN, Scott Cook of Shelbyville, TN, Eric Jacobsen of Rio Del Mar, CA, and Tony Morris of Murfreesboro, TN.

In the 2012 Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic, Billy Ogle, Jr. of Knoxville, TN would score the race victory over Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN, and Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN.  The remainder of the top ten from the 2012 event would be Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN, Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN, Ty Dillon of Welcome, NC, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN, and Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN.

Smoky Mountain Speedway last presented racing action on Friday July 26 and feature event winners that evening Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC in Ray Cook’s Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals action, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN in Crate Late Models, Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN in Crate Late Models, and Warren McMahan of Dandridge, TN in Street Stocks.
