By Chris Tilley

MARYVILLE, TN (April 13, 2013)—Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN claimed the Ray Cook Spring Nationals Victory on Saturday Night April 13th while Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY claimed the $3,000 American Modified Series Victory while Jonathan Sims of Lenoir City, TN claimed the Street Stock victory and Justin Kelso was victorious in the Mini Stock portion of the show.

Tommy Kerr led all the distance of the 50-lapper to take $6,000 in the Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals Series event. Kerr became the fourth different winner in four series events held thus far. Three caution flags slowed the main event. On lap two, Billy Ogle blew a right rear tire on the backstretch while George Mashburn hit the turn two wall on the 26th lap bringing out the second yellow flag. The final yellow would fly on the restart of the 26th circuit as Dale McDowell was leaking fluid heading into turn one, he hit the wall and collected Mark Douglas, Billy Ogle Jr. and Brett Miller. Kerr finished ahead of sixth place starter Jonathan Davenport, Vic Hill, Clint Smith who started 11th then Steve Casebolt who started 10th was fifth in the final rundown. Kerr came to victory lane while driving the Larry Garner owned Custom Race Engine powered Rocket Chassis. The car is sponsored by Massey Electric, Blount Excavating, Cherokee Millwright, Stower’s CAT and Al Blankenship Enterprises.

Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY took the lead from Levi Kissinger on lap 18 to lead the remaining 12 laps en route to the $3,000 payday in the American Modified Series event in the Bandit Race Cars entry. Barber came to the victory over runner up Matt Cooper of McKenzie, TN, Derek Fisher of Olympia, KY, Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN and Josh Ferguson of Covington, IN.

In the Street Stock 15-lap main it was Jonathan Sims of Lenoir City, TN claiming victory over Jeff McLemore, Tim Kilby, Scott Brown and Jon Cook. Sims took the lead after Cook suffered mechanical problems. Justin Kelso led flag-to-flag in the 15-lap Mini Stock feature over David Singleton, Debbie Singleton, Jeremy Teffeteller and Sam Burgess.
