Duck River, Boyd’s and Dixie finish out Spring Nationals Schedule May 9-11

BRASSTOWN, NC (May 3, 2013)—The Inaugural edition of the Ray Cook-promoted Spring Nationals Series will finish it’s campaign on May 9/10/11 with visits to Duck River Raceway Park, Boyd’s Speedway and Dixie Speedway respectively.

Fresh off a visit by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on April 28th the Bob Harris owned Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN will host Round # 7 of the Spring Nationals on Thursday Night May 9th for a 40-lap $4,000 to win event.

Round # 8 of the tour brings the series to the 1/3 mile banked clay oval of Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for a visit to the track located on the Tennessee/Georgia State border on Friday Night May 10th. The event will pay $4,000 to win / $400 to start the 40-lapper at the track that started racing in 1952 and is currently promoted by Gar Dickson.

The final stop on the tour will commence on Saturday Night May 11th at the Historical Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA. The Swims Family owned and operated facility will host the final event of the tour paying $6,000 to win / $500 to start the 50-lapper. Dixie Speedway is home to the Dixie Shootout held at the end of their racing season.

Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN holds a 30-point lead in the Championship point standings in the D&R Motorsports, Hicks & Ingle Contractors sponsored R.E.D. Powered MasterSbilt Race Car over Knoxville, TN’s Billy Ogle Jr. who drives the Blount Motorsports, Larry Garner owned Custom powered Rocket Chassis. Rounding out the top-five include David Payne of Murphy, NC in the Payne Tire Racing, Gibson Motorsports MasterSbilt special who is third, Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN who is fourth and fifth is Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in the Central Painting Revelution Race Car.

In the six previous series events held, there have been six different winners with Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA taking the win on March 15th at Volunteer Speedway followed by John Blankenship of Williamson, WV taking the final night of the Spring Thaw at Volunteer Speedway March 16th. On April 12th Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA took $4,000 with a win at Tri-County Race Track followed by Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN picking up the April 13th win at Smoky Mountain Speedway. On April 18th it was Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV taking the $4,000 payday at 201 Speedway in Kentucky then Randy Weaver took home $5,000 in an April 20th visit to Cleveland Speedway. On rain out has plagued competition which came on Friday April 19th at Ponderosa Speedway in Kentucky.

On Thursday Night May 9th the Gates will open at 4:00 pm CST and the Driver’s Meeting is slated for 7:00 pm CST. The 2-Barrel Late Models and Pure Pony divisions will be on the racing card for the evening. Adult General Admission is $20.00 and an Adult Pit pass is $30.00. On Friday Night May 10th the Gates will open at 4:00 pm EST and racing begins at 7:00 pm. The Crate Late Models, A-Hobby and B-Hobby divisions will provide support on the evening’s racing card. Adult General Admission is $15.00 with Adult Pit Passes being $30.00. Boyd’s Speedway is located at 1481 Scruggs Road in Ringgold, GA 30736. On Saturday Night May 11th the Gates will open at 5:00 pm EST with racing slated for 7:00 pm EST. The Econo Bombers, Super Bombers, Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, Pont Stock and Street Cruisers will be the support divisions for the event.
