Spring Nationals Series Makes First Ever Trip to Tazewell Speedway May 2nd

TAZEWELL, TN (April 27, 2015)—After being rained out last Saturday April 25, action will return to the high banks of Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway this Saturday May 2nd with the first-ever visit by the Ray Cook-promoted Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil.

The Super Late Models will race for a 50-lap $6,000-to-win and $500-to-start event. The Late Model Sportsman ($850-to-win), Classics ($500-to-win) and KDRA Super Stocks ($500-to-win) will all be on the racing card.

In the first Super Late Model event held on April 11th at Tazewell Speedway, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. made an exciting last lap pass on Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.V. for his first-career World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory during the Ray Varner Ford-sponsored 50 lapper.

On Saturday Night May 2nd, adult general admission is $20.00 while pit passes are $35.00. The pits will open at 4:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 pm while the driver’s meeting is set for 7:00 pm and hot laps will roll out at 7:30 pm.

Expected from the Spring Nationals Series stable of cars include: Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN; David Payne of Murphy, NC; points leader Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC, Austin Smith of Cedartown, GA; Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA; Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA and Jason Croft of Woodstock, GA.

Per series rules, the Super Late Model tire rule for May 2nd is as follows: Hoosier 1350 & 1600 along with American Racer 48 & 56. Also per series contingency awards, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus from the series.

April 18 winners at Tazewell Speedway included Josh Collins of Powell, Tenn. who got his first win of the season in the Tazewell Late Models. Brad Davis of Tazewell notched his first win of the season in the Super Stocks while Bubby Braden of Luttrell, Tenn. claimed the Four Cylinder main event win. The Classic and Late Model Sportsman feature was rained out on April 18th and will be run on May 2nd after the race program is complete.
