Spring Nationals Series Heads to Smoky Mountain Speedway on April 25th for TN Tipoff Classic

BRASSTOWN, NC (April 19, 2015)—The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series will make the third appearance in three seasons to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. for the Second Annual Tennessee Tipoff Classic on Saturday Night April 25th as part of a double-header weekend for the track. This event was scheduled for March 13 and 14 but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

During last season’s visit by the Spring Nationals Series, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. claimed the $6,000 top prize over Vic Hill of Mosheim, Tenn., Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn. and Stacy Boles of Clinton, Tenn. In 2013, Tommy Kerry of Maryville, Tenn. claimed the $6,000 payday in the series’ inaugural visit. During last year’s Tennessee Tipoff Classic, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. took home Friday’s victory while Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. was victorious on Saturday Night.

The big weekend at Smoky Mountain Speedway will open up on Thursday Night April 23rd with an open practice session for all divisions from 6:00 through 9:00 pm. Pit passes for the practice session are $20.00 and general admission is free. A pit party will be held after practice and is included in the pit pass only and not for general admission. This event is sponsored by Jet’s Pizza and Hooters.

On Friday Night April 24th Smoky Mountain Speedway will have their annual Rockin’ with the Stars presented by Classic Rock 103.5 WIMZ event. It will be a Southern Allstars-sanctioned event paying $5,000-to-win with their payout, rules and procedures. In addition to the Rockin’ with the Stars race on Friday Night, the Limited Late Models ($1,500-to-win) and Sportsman ($750-to-win) will join the racing program.

On Saturday Night April 25th the track will host the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil for the Second Annual Tennessee Tipoff Classic paying $6,000-to-win and $500-to-start. There will be a full show of practice, time trials, dash, last chance heat races and the 50-lap main event on Saturday night.

On Saturday, the pits will be cleared at 1:00 pm then reopen. The grandstand and tier parking gates will open at 4:00 pm and the driver’s meeting will be at 6:00 pm. Hot Laps will follow shortly after. The Crate Late Models ($1,500-to-win) and Street Stocks ($750-to-win) will join in the racing program on Saturday night. General admission is $20.00 for adults, $25.00 in tier parking and $40.00 in the pits. Two-day passes are available for $70.00 for the pits and $30.00 for the stands.

The Super Late Model Series tire rule for the Saturday Night portion of the Spring Nationals Series event will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1450 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48, 53 and 56 compounds allowed.

At each Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2015, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus.
