BULLS GAP, Tenn. – Apr. 16, 2016 – Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. took the lead away from Dale McDowell on lap 24 and never looked back in route to his second-career Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series victory at Volunteer Speedway Saturday night.

Madden’s second Spring Thaw, worth $10,000, came while piloting the Century Plastics, Henderson Amusement, Crowder Trucking, Allstar Performance, Stroble Mini Storage-sponsored Clements Racing Engines-powered Longhorn Chassis.

The 60 lapper saw Rick Eckert and Dale McDowell bring the field to life for the start of the main event. McDowell jumped to the early lead but as he began to work lapped traffic around lap-11 he had some company. Eckert closed the gap for the second spot, but lurking in the short distance was fourth-starting Chris Madden who eventually made the pass for second spot on Eckert on lap-14 and now had his sights set on the lead position. On lap 20, McDowell and Madden were side-by-side for the top spot and on lap-23, Madden would make his move in turn three and grab the top spot and never look back. Meanwhile, Marlar would grab the runner-up spot away from McDowell on the 30th lap as the race continued to go caution free until its entirety. Madden crossed the line ahead of Marlar, McDowell, Eckert and Donald McIntosh. The 60-lap main event took just over 14 minutes to run.

The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series will be back in action Saturday April 23rd for a 50-lap $6,000-to-win event at Senoia (GA) Raceway before heading to Kentucky on April 29th for a visit to Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City then April 30th at Florence Speedway in Union.
