Gary Parker Releases Book On Southern Dirt Late Model Racing

FAYETTEVILLE, TN-- Gary Parker of Knoxville, TN., has just released a new book on dirt-track racing titled “Red Clay and Dust – The Evolution of Southern Dirt Racing.” Parker is a retired anthropology instructor at The University of Tennessee.

Parker has been around dirt late model racing for over 50 years, and many of his racing friends talked him into finally sitting down and writing a book about dirt-track racing in the South. The book is currently the only new release out focusing on dirt-track racing, especially dirt late models.

If is a very informative read for the dirt late model fan as it covers series such as NDRA, Hav-A-Tampa, Southern All Stars and Lucas Oil.  Also there are track & driver profiles in the book that cover tracks that are no longer in existence like Lakewood Speedway in Georgia to tracks that are still in operation today such as Cherokee Speedway in South Carolina.  Drivers featured in the book include Buck Simmons, Jack Boggs and Freddy Smith, to drivers of today Ronnie Johnson, Randy Weaver & Riley Hickman.
The book “Red Clay and Dust – The Evolution of Southern Dirt Racing” is available at places such as Amazon, plus at Barnes and Noble locations.
