Crossville Speedway Shifts “Plateau 50” paying $5,000 to win to Prime-Time Saturday Night May 21st!

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – May 19, 2016 – With a gloomy Friday forecast and several events already being postponed for the weekend, officials with the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and the Crossville Speedway have decided to move the “Plateau 50” forward one day to its new date of Saturday May 21st. Practice for Thursday Night is still on as planned.

In addition to the $5,000-to-win Super Late Model special, the Crate Late Models racing for $2,000-to-win, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman and Super Stocks will all be on tap for the night’s racing events. If for some reason there has to be another makeup date, the new date will be Thursday June 2nd.

For the first time in over seven years, the ground-pounding Super Late Models will take to the track for a major racing event. The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will compete in the “Plateau 50” on Saturday Night. In nearly 32 Super Late Model special events held at Crossville Speedway since the early 1990’s, Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn. has claimed the most sanctioned event wins. Weaver claimed the Northern Allstars-sanctioned Shoney’s 50 in May 2003, two Southern Regional Racing Series races in 2006 and 2008 along with a Southern All Star win in 2006. The last time a national touring race was held at Crossville Speedway (formerly Crossville Raceway USA) was an Xtreme DirtCar Series (formerly Hav-A-Tampa/UDTRA) race in 2003 in which Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. claimed the event win.

On Saturday May 21st, the pit gates open at 4:00 CST, the grandstand gates open at 5:00 pm CST and the driver’s meeting will be at 6:30 pm CST and hot laps will roll out soon after. Adult general admission is $20.00 per person with children 14 and under admitted free. Tier parking is $25.00 per person with children 14 and under admitted free and adult pit passes are $35.00 per person.

After two Southern Nationals Bonus Series events, Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn. sits atop the point standings with a mere two point lead over Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. David Payne of Murphy, N.C. is third in the points while Ryan King of Seymour, Tenn. is fourth and Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn. is fifth. Two different winners have went to victory lane. Cory Hedgecock claimed the Frostbuster 50 on February 27th at 411 Motor (Tenn.) Speedway while Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. claimed the $4,000 prize on March 19th at Boyd’s Speedway.

The tire rule for Saturday’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned event at Crossville Speedway will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56 compounds. The series entry fee is $100. Also, the highest finishing driver using a CT525 engine package will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing driver using a Steel Head/SPEC engine package will receive a $200 bonus courtesy of the series.
