FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Spring & Southern Nationals Series Unleash $800,000 Tour for 2016 By Chris Tilley, Series P.R. Coordinator INDIANAPOLIS, IN (December 11, 2015)—Officials with the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series, the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series and the Southern Nationals Bonus Series are pleased to introduce the schedules for all three tours during the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show. Purses and points funds for all three tours are in excess of $800,000 from races spanning February through November. The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil will open up with the two-day $15,000-to-win Tennessee Tipoff Classic on March 10-12 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. and end the ten-race tour at Rome (Ga.) Speedway on Sunday May 28th with a $6,000-to-win event. The series’ ending points fund will again exceed $15,000 with $5,053 going to the series champion. Returning to the schedule after a year absence is Volunteer (Tenn.) Speedway. The series will compete for a $4,000-to-win and $10,000-to-win on April 15-16 respectively during the 15th Annual Spring Thaw. The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage will compete for 11 points races in 15 grueling days during the last two weeks of July. This will mark the first time the tour has posted 11 points paying races. The tour will begin on Saturday July 16th at Wythe (Va.) Raceway paying $10,000-to-win. As of note on the Wythe (Va.) event, track promoter Fred Brown and series promoter Ray Cook have agreed to start all Super Late Models (open competition engines) that enter the event. The only new track, which is a returning track on the schedule is Volunteer (Tenn.) Speedway. The $3,500-to-win event will be on Sunday Night July 17th after Wythe Raceway’s race while the final event will be on Saturday July 30 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway paying $10,000-to-win. The points fund for the tour will again be in excess of $15,000 and the series champion will receive a $5,053 check. The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will open up the 2016 campaign at 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday February 27th for the Inaugural Frostbuster paying $5,000-to-win. The season highlights also include a pair of $10,000-to-win races at Richmond (Ky.) Raceway on June 25th for the 12th Annual Iron-Man Classic and the 28th Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial on Saturday August 20th. The series will also again visit Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. for the 26th Annual Fall Classic paying $26,000-to-win on November 4-5. The series champion will again receive $3,053 and the top-three positions in the final points will be paid.
