By:  Michael Despain-Southern Nationals Bonus Series

SOMERSET, KY (November 11, 2014)-The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will conclude its 2014 racing campaign with its series finale at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN and the 3rd Annual Deep Fried 75 on Friday November 14 and Saturday November 15, with the winner of the Deep Fried 75 leaving "The Duck" that Saturday evening with $11,000.

Due to the colder temperatures being forecasted for this week, track and series officials have adjusted start time both days for this event. The practice scheduled for Thursday evening November 13 will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. On Friday November 14, the general admission and pit area will open at Noon, with the drivers meeting now set for 4:30 p.m., followed immediately by practice, time trials, and green flag racing. On Saturday November 15, the general admission and pit area will open at 9:00 a.m., with the drivers meeting set for Noon, followed immediately by racing action. All times listed are Central Time.

During last year's Deep Fried 75 action, Josh Putnam and Skylar Marlar made a show out of what was probably one of the best races of the year while Putnam of Florence, AL would go on to grab the $10,000 payday. In 2012, it was Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN who picked up the $10,000 victory over Ray Cook and Walker Arthur.

The schedule of events for the weekend will see an open practice for all divisions on Thursday November 13 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Central Time and will be $5 in the general admission area and $20 per person in the pit area, with the actual race program getting cranked up on Friday and Saturday evenings. Also of note, drivers competing in all divisions for the weekend can register, get their transponder, and pill draw on Thursday evening as well and this will continue through the day on Friday, with everyone needing to be signed in by 4:00 p.m.

On Friday November 14, the Super Late Models will be in action with practice laps, groups time trials, and qualifying heat race events, along with the special treat of the inaugural Turkey Run 20, that will see several lucky race fans randomly draw out the names of 20 drivers that can compete in this event, with the winner taking home $1,000 and the race pays $100 to start.

On Saturday November 15, the Super Late Model division will be in action with Last Chance Showdown B-Main events, a non-qualifiers event ($300 to win/$100 to start), and the 75 lap, $11,000 to win Deep Fried 75 A-Main that will pay $700 to start.

The 2-Barrel Late Model division will also compete for $1,500 in winner's purse during the 3rd Annual Deep Fried 75 weekend, while the Crate Late Model division will race for $1,500 as well that weekend. Classes also running over the course of the two-day program include: Street Stocks ($750-to-win) and Pure Pony ($1,000-to-win). The Outlaws Pony will race on Friday Night only paying $300-to-win as well as the E-Mod Open Wheels competing for $500-to-win. On Saturday Night after the Deep Fried 75 main event, the Vintage Dwarf Cars will run a feature event only.

Activities for the 3rd Annual Deep Fried 75 on Friday November 14 will see the general admission area and pit area open at Noon, with the drivers meeting now set for 4:30 p.m., while practice laps will get the green flag immediately after the drivers meeting, followed by time trials and green flag racing.  On Saturday November 15, the general admission area and pit area will open at 9:00 a.m.  The drivers meeting is set to begin at Noon, followed immediately by racing action. All times listed are Central Time.

Ticket prices for the 3rd Annual Deep Fried 75 in the general admission area will see a two-day pass go for $40, while a one-day pass will be $25.  Children ages 6 to 12 will be $5 each day, while children ages 5 and under are free with a paid adult.  A two-day pit pass will be $65 for the weekend, with a one-day pit pass going for $35. Also, due to the large crowd expected for this event, no coolers will be permitted in the general admission seating area, so as to provide more room for spectator seating and for those who want to bring a portable heater.
