FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2015 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series Now Just a Week Away By Chris Tilley, Series Publicist BRASSTOWN, NC (July 12, 2015)—Two of the busiest weeks of racing in the Southeast gets kicked off on Monday July 20th with the running of the Eleventh Annual Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage. The two week mini-tour kicks off Monday July 20th at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va. paying $3,500-to-win. Support classes will be on hand and racing action is set to begin at 8:00 pm on Monday Night. Last year’s event winner at Wythe Raceway was Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. will again be on this year’s schedule as the series will roll into the beautiful Smoky Mountains on Tuesday Night July 21st paying $3,500 to win. Support classes will be on hand and action will kick off at 7:30 on Tuesday Night. Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn. won last year’s inaugural visit. Modoc Raceway in Modoc, S.C. again returns to the schedule on Thursday Night July 23rd paying $3,500-to-win. Support classes will join in the racing program that night with action kicking off at 7:00 pm. Brandon Overton of Appling, Ga. won last year’s inaugural series visit. On Friday Night July 24th the Southern Nationals competitors travel to Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway for Round # 4 of the tour paying $5,300-to-win while support classes will be on the racing card for the evening’s events. Action will get started with 7:00 pm Hot Laps. Last year at Swainsboro, Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga. claimed the event victory. Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. will host the series on Saturday Night July 25th paying $5,300 to win during the 16th annual Rebel Yell event. Support classes will also greet the fans for action and will kick off with 7:00 pm Hot Laps. Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C. claimed the 2014 series visit. On Sunday Night July 26th, Round # 6 of the series will bring action to the Rome Speedway in Rome, Ga. paying $5,300-to-win. Support classes will all be in action as cars will hit the track around 7:00 for action. Randy Weaver won last year’s tour appearance to the famed Rome Speedway. Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. will host Round # 7 of the tour for the second time on Tuesday Night July 28th as the SNS competitors will be competing for the $3,500 top prize during NASCAR Night at the track featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Austin Dillon and his younger brother NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Ty Dillon. The tracks support classes will all be on tap for the night’s events as action will start around 7:00 pm. On Thursday Night July 30th the series will roll into Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC for the first time since 2007 for Round # 8 on the tour paying $3,500-to-win. Support classes will share the stage during the track’s Thursday Night special event. Action will kick off around 7:00 pm Central Time. Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. won the 2007 race appearance at Tri-County. Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. will host Round # 9 of the tour for Late Model Mania on Friday Night July 31st. This will mark the series’ fourth appearance to the track located just minutes from Knoxville. The event pays $5,300-to-win support classes will all be in action. Action will kick off with 7:00 pm hot laps. Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. claimed the 2014 series visit. On Saturday Night August 1st the tour will finish the ten race journey with a $10,050-to-win event at the Gary Hall owned high-banked oval. This will be the 50th Anniversary Race for Tazewell Speedway. Support classes will all be on the racing card with action set to begin at around 7:45 pm. Eric Jacobsen of Rio Del Mar, Cal. won the 2014 series visit to the Bad Fast Taz. Tazewell has been the only track on the tour that has hosted the finale every season. Twelve drivers have given intentions on trying to complete the entire tour. Those drivers include: Stacy Boles of Clinton, Tenn., Mark Dotson of Cameron, Mo., Vic Hill of Mosheim, Tenn., Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., Mack McCarter of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga., Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., T.J. Reaid of Ackworth, Ga., Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., Austin Smith of Cedartown, Ga., Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga. and Craig Vosbergen of Perth, Western Australia. Each Night, the tour will feature a complete show of Practice, FK Rod Ends Qualifying, Dash, B-Mains and the Main events (either 35 or 53 laps in distance). A $100 entry fee will be charged each night and transponders will be available for rent at each event. At the first series event, provisional starting spots will be based on one from last year’s Southern Nationals Series points and this year’s final Spring Nationals Series points if needed. The Southern Nationals Series will feature a points fund in excess of $15,000 with $5,053 going to the Series Champion, second place receives $2,553, third place receives $2,053, fourth place receives $1,553, fifth place receives $1,053, sixth place receives $753, seventh place receives $653 and eighth place in series points will receive $553 along with all other prefect attendance drivers. Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. is the defending series champion. Purses in excess of $205,000 will go out the door in just ten days of racing. The top AR Bodies Rookie of the Year for the tour will receive a $1,000 cash award. At each Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2015, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus.
