BRASSTOWN, NC (June 20, 2014)—Before the 10th Anniversary season kicks off for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage, tour promoter Ray Cook has made two schedule changes.

On Tuesday Night July 22nd, 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. will join the slate of the ten-race mini tour hosting their first-ever event paying $3,500-to-win. It will be Round # 2 of the tour at the Mitch McCarter owned facility located just 13 miles South of Knoxville, Tenn. The 3/8th’s mile banked 411 Motor Speedway has been in operation since the spring of 1960. Further information on the 411 Motor Speedway can be obtained by visiting www.411motorspeedway.net .

On Thursday Night July 24th the series will roll into Jim Cushman’s Modoc Raceway in Modoc, S.C. for the series’ second-ever visit and will join the slate of races while hosting Round # 3 on the schedule paying $3,500-to-win. Just nine seasons ago, Modoc Raceway held the first-ever Southern Nationals Series event which paid Athens, Ga.’s Royce Bray $3,000 as he made history while becoming the first-ever winner. Bray drove to the victory over Casey Roberts, Shane Tankersley, Jeff Cooke and Jake Knowles. After 81 events, it’s only fitting that Modoc returns to the schedule to be a part of the tenth anniversary. Further information on the Modoc Raceway can be obtained by visiting www.modocraceway.com .

Promoter Ray Cook and the entire Southern Nationals Series would like to take a moment to thank the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. and East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Ala. for hosting events in the past and look forward to working with them in years to come.

The Southern Nationals Series will feature a points fund in excess of $15,000 with $5,053 going to the Series Champion, second place receives $2,553, third place receives $2,053, fourth place receives $1,553, fifth place receives $1,053, sixth place receives $753, seventh place receives $653 and eighth place in series points will receive $553 along with all other prefect attendance drivers. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA is the defending series champion.

In addition to the Southern Nationals and Spring Nationals Series point funds, the series has announced a Combined Bonus for the top five drivers who finish the highest with both tours. The overall top driver from each series will receive $5,053, with second place receiving $2,553, third place receiving $2,053, fourth place receiving $1,553 and fifth place receiving $1,053.

A possible $15,000+ could be won by Billy Ogle Jr. this season if he wins the Spring and Southern Nationals with points fund monies from both tours and the Combined Bonus Money. Also, if a driver was to at least run fifth in both tours, he could receive $3,159 with point funds and the combined bonus.
