Ultimate Super Late Models make final visit to Smoky Mtn. on July 6th for Firecracker 500

MARYVILLE, TN (June 30, 2013)—After a visit by the Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Models for the SUMMER SHOWDOWN race , the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN will wrap up the Fourth of July Week by a visit from the Ultimate Late Model Series on Saturday Night July 6th paying $5,000 to win for the Firecracker 5000.

In six previous Super Late Model events held at Smoky Mountain Speedway this season, there have been six different winners that have graced victory lane as Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA claimed the $5,000 to win WIMZ Rockin’ with the Stars event sanctioned by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series on March 23rd, then Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN claimed the Ray Cook-promoted Spring Nationals stop and $6,000 on April 13th while Shane Clanton of Zebulon, GA graced victory lane while claiming the World of Outlaws Late Model Series visit on April 26th and took home $10,000. On May 25th Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, FL claimed the first Ultimate Late Model Series visit and took home $4,000 then Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC won the Big Daddy 500 for the SAS Super Late Models and took the $5,000 payday. On the SRRS-visit on June 29th it was Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC who took the win in the SUMMER SHOWDOWN for the $3,000 payday.

On June 29th the event winners for Smoky Mountain Speedway included   in the SRRS Late Models, Brett Wyatt in the Crate Late Models and Travis Reno in the Street Stocks. The next event after the Ultimate Series race will be a visit by Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series on Friday Night July 26th paying $5,300 to win.

In addition to the Ultimate Late Models, the Limited Late Models will race for $1,500, Crate Late Models will compete for $1,000 to win and the Southern Mod Lite Series will race for $400 to win. The Street Stocks will have the night off.

The Limited Late Models will run with this purse structure: The race will pay $1,500 to win with 20 or more cars, $1,200 to win with 15 or more cars and $1,000 to win with 10 or more cars. No entry fee will be charged for the Crate or Limited Late Models. There will be a $25.00 fee for transponder scoring. If a driver runs in more than one class then an entry fee will be charged with that fee being $35.00 per additional class and a separate car must be used.

The Limited Late Model rules for the July 6 and July 26 events are as follows: 362 cubic inch engine max., Steel Block/Steel Heads. Single carburetor racing fuel or E85 only no methanol allowed. The weight is 2350 lbs. with a pound per lap burnoff being used. The tires that can be run are Hoosier 1600 or American Racer 56 on the rear and the front of the car is open.

This Saturday will also be the second of three races in the Crate Mini Series at Smoky Mountain Speedway, they are races ran between June 29, July 6 and July 26. The driver with the most points at the end of the three races will earn a $300 bonus with the second highest driver $200 and the third highest driver receiving $100.

The Ultimate Late Models will Practice, Qualify and lock in eight, then run B-Mains to fill the field of 22 plus two series provisional starting spots to determine the 24-car field for the 50-lapper.

The Pit Gates will open at 3:00 pm with Grandstand Gates opening at 5:00 pm and the Driver’s Meeting slated for 7:00 pm. Adult General Admission is $15.00 with Adult Tier Parking $20.00 and Adult Pit Passes being $35.00.

Racing action for Smoky Mountain Speedway includes the hosting of other special events throughout the 2013 season including: Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series, Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Series, Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, American Modified Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, United Sprint Car Series, Southern Regional Racing Series and the Ultimate Late Models.
