World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway Fri. Apr. 26th
(National tour makes first-visit to East Tennessee oval since 2004 as part of triple-header weekend)

MARYVILLE, TN (April 21, 2013)—The return of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series is drawing near.

A visit by the full-fendered Outlaws gang will be the headliner on a triple-header weekend to Tennessee which begins at Smoky Mountain Speedway on Friday Night April 26th. It’s the first series visit since April 30, 2004 when Rick Eckert claimed victory. The series will also make stops at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN on Saturday Night April 27th and Sunday Night April 28th to the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, TN.

The WoO Late Models will compete for a 50-lap $10,000 to win show along with the local Crate Late Models racing for $1,500 to win and the Street Stocks racing for $500 to win. The Pits will open at 12:00 pm on Friday, the Grandstand and Tier Parking gates will swing open at 4:00 pm with the Driver’s Meeting slated for 7:00 pm and Hot Laps at 7:30 pm. Adult General Admission is $25.00, Adult Tier Parking is $30.00 per person while an Adult Pit Pass is $40.00.

In two events held so far at Smoky Mountain Speedway, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA has won the $5,000 Rockin’ with the Stars event on March 23rd sanctioned by the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series and Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN won the $6,000 Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals Series event on April 13th.

National touring stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series that are expected include: former champion Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV; Kennedy Motorsports driver Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA; former champion Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY; Rick Eckert of York, PA; former champion Tim McCreadie of Watertown, NY; this year’s Spring 50 winner at Florence Speedway Scott James of Bright, IN; Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; Tim Fuller of Watertown, NY; Morgan Bagley of Longview, TX, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, PA, Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS, Clint Smith of Senoia, GA And Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, FL. There have been 13 drivers enter all ten WoO events so far with Tim McCreadie their most recent winner on April 20th at 311 Speedway in Pine Hall, NC.

National touring Lucas Oil Series regulars Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN and Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN are expected to be in attendance. Expected from the regional stable of cars include: defending SAS Champion Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN; defending SRRS Champion Riley Hickman of Chattanooga, TN; former VRS Champion Mike Weeks of Friendsville, TN; former SAS Champion Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC; Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; SAS winner Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA; Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN; Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA; David Crabtree of Maryville, TN; Mark Vineyard of Powell, TN; Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN; Mark Douglas of Knoxville, TN; Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN; Robby Moses of Friendsville, TN; Vic Hill of Mosheim, TN; Spring Nationals winner Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN along with other regional hot-shoes.

Racing action for Smoky Mountain Speedway includes the hosting of other special events throughout the 2013 season including: Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series, Ray Cook’s Spring Nationals Series, Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, American Modified Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, United Sprint Car Series, Southern Regional Racing Series and the Ultimate Late Models.
